What are your favorite Korean and Japanese singers and bands?
Whether by watching anime or Asian dramas or just by surfing on the net, we have been introduced to K and J music and have become fans of it. So here’s a thread to share our favorite music artists from Korea and Japan. Please post the name and a link to a song from each one of your favorite K and J-artists so that the rest of the members of the site who are not familiar with said artists can have a taste of their music and maybe even become fans of them. :)
Here’s my first contribution to this thread:
My taste in music is based more on the songs themselves rather than the artists but here are some J-artists that I consider my fav because I like more than one song from them:
1)Ayumi Hamasaki / Ourselves
2) M.o.v.e / Dogfight
3) Yumi Shizukusa / Hana Kagari

Love Psychedelico (duo with a female vocalist, some different sounds)
9mm Parabellum Bullet (One of the 'outstanding' rock bands out there currently, real nice heavy sound)
The Pillows (Old-school stuff, they're brilliant, even now)
Re-Trick (A jazz trio, drummer, bassist, keyboardist, seriously cool stuff)
ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION (A really well known band, if you haven't heard any of their stuff, it's worth the listen, done quite a few anime songs)
THE BACK HORN (Another well known rock band, they've done a few anime songs, like the ED for Gundam 00, but very worth the listen)
discord (Relatively unknown group, but they're a classic rock band, slight twists on their sound, but really good)

Re: What are your favorite Japanese singers and bands?
Utada Hikaru's like a J-music staple :D A lot of my schoolmates who couldn't care less about J-music have heard "First Love" haha. And +1 for Arashi's "Ashita no Kioku" :D
Recently I've been listening to a lot of UVERworld, T.M.Revolution and abingdon boys school. The other day I looked back at my iTunes library at all my T.M.R songs and realised I'd been a fan of T.M.R's for 11-12 years, since I was like 7 or something! Pretty amazing XD
UVERworld - Colors of the Heart
T.M.Revolution - resonance
abingdon boys school - STRENGTH.
