I was listening to a french radio program about the 1001 nights and I learned something I was not aware of : Aladdin and Alibabba were not part of the sheherazade tales initialy. They have been added up by a French guy when it was translated for the first time. Isn't that funny that they have become the most famous one afterwards and even become the heroes of our favorite manga :-)

It is pretty funny, if you think about it. :lmao But at the same time that doesn't discredit them either. Aladdin, Alibaba and the 40 Thieves, even Sinbad the Sailor were all existing folktales from the Middle East, they just weren't part of the 1001 Nights. Of course, the person who put them into 1001 Nights when they were translating it did us a big favor by preserving the stories to begin with. And the Arabs I know wouldn't be able to tell the difference, really.Quote:

I wonder what it could be? The most obvious thing that comes to mind is maybe an actual mini-series on Sinbad. But I think that might be confusing in the long run, for new readers especially. Unless the anime plans on adopting the manga volume on Sinbad into an OVA or a special episode.If that's the case then I want the Crime Against Kougyoku Arc animated kthnx

I don't think so. He's an extension of Sheherezade therefore she can vanish him anytime. I think it's going to serve purpose that we will see the limits of her about the people she govern and his personality under stress, whether save one among a lot or prefer to save a lot but killing only one or a few, just putting an example.Quote:
