All right, first things first. I tought it was a nice chapter but I didn't understand who Sukuzi is, maybe we'll get an answer next chapter. Loved the Kenshiro shout-out tough. I don't know if this was stated before but did anyone catch the fact that Grifis was a shout-out to Berserk?
I really enjoyed the character design of the younger Sakaki and Hongo.
I feel that Sukuzi will have a tragic end, he will either turn evil or die in combat.
To me it feels that Suzuki Hajime is Saiga Furunji! But I don't know if that cant be the case... because Shio is 29 years old now, and well yeah... make the math.
Long time reader first time writting, I love this manga, anyhow did anyone notice that in the present figth Sakaki is using a defence stance while Hongo is using a offence stance, and in their past figth they're using the opposite stance just found that interesting!!!!
I'm curious too about Suzuki. I don't think that he is the One Shadow but it might be that Hongo took him as a disciple. He later must have died or something so the place was open for Shou. But interesting that Sakaki even in his young age (how old is he in this flashback?) he is known as the 100 dan xD
My thinking is that they both took him under their wings, even though they had conflicting styles/ideologys.
Then Suzuki probably died in a disciple-class fight. They might've blamed each other and that could be a reason why they have fought so many times. This could've led to....
Hongo really beefing up his training style to not let another disciple die because of a weak thinking of saving lives and...
Sakaki saying he would never take another disciple again because he blames himself.
But that is just imagination. Can't wait to see the explanation!
Okay, let's think about it at a different angle...
Sakaki is a dou fighter...Hongo is a sei...and Suzuki is REALY want to learn something from them...
What if..he was the first one who mixed sei and dou ki?And died in result...and Sakaki and Hongo blame eachother for what happened(or somethin like dat)
I am a bit surprised that hongo was called the god fist all the way back then. I thought the whole fist nickname thing was a yami thing. Or perhaps he was already a yami master back in the day?
Hmm, it actually makes sense that it's not a Yami thing. I wonder how these characters get their names though. Whoever dubbed Hongou "God Fist" definitely had a good naming sense though.
The only problem with the whole "god fist" not being a yami thing is that all yami masters have a nickname of the sort. Brahnma's fist, bewitching fist, laughing fist, fist of destruction, sage fist, fierce fist god.... Isn't this too much of a coincidence if it has nothing to do with yami?
Maybe Saiga met them all at some point in their lives and dubbed them himself?
Yami has existed since world war two at least though (and perhaps it existed as a different organization before). In that regard it is unlikely saiga was the actual creator of yami, he would seem a tad on the young side thus not being the first one shadow.
Couldn't it be like this?:
The One Shadow Nine Fists all have had [something]-fist nicknames and got together and said "Hey, we're the Nine Fists!" Then Saiga said "I am the One Shadow. Join me!" And thus the One Shadow Nine Fists organization was born.
Yes YAMI has existed since then. No one has said yet when the One Shadow Nine Fists division was created. Maybe Saiga joined Yami some unknown time ago and he was so powerful he was able to create his own sub-section within. Makes sense considering just how powerful and well regarded the Furinji clan his regarded in the martial arts community.
What interests me is how big the organization of Yami is. They have revealed several non-Asian masters and styles both within One Shadow Nine Fists and without. Also didn't Christopher Eclair way back a few years ago call it something different in French?
