I nominate REAL for best sports manga.

I nominate Eyeshield 21. Because it made me read a manga about a sport I couldn't care less about. I would have nominated HNI if I didn't find the manga dragged. Since the woli fight, HNI is just an other random manga.

All worthy candidates this far. I'd like to nominate Giant Killing.

An extremely fresh take on sports genre. For one, it doesn't focus solely on an insecure high-school raw-diamond, but the starts at the national level right at the start. The perspective is bit weighted from the manager point of view, but the series handles football very widely as phenomenon. It is not just the game on the field. Managing, publicity and media, training, fanbase, junior sports. I love the characters and the story is very interesting.

He's old, he's a drop out guy, but he's got a dream - and he has an afro: Rock'N Roll Ricky (RRR)

I'm actually neither a fan of sports manga nor of boxing (at all), but I was surprised of the whole package. Arts and story are ballanced pretty well IMHO.
