Not to stir up the pot again but on the point of the omission of some Leorio's great moments (gate and arm wrestling)
while I am still disappointed with the lack of them. I think while it wasn't actually shown in the manga Madhouse did
a GREAT job with Leorio vs Tonpa all the way back in Episode 12. Sure it was only a few seconds long but it was nicely
animated and I appreciate how Madhouse structured that part so that we see Gon grab the ax and think he's about
to join in the fight and then it skips ahead and we're left wondering---Who's left if any of them. And well you know what happens.
Still...I sure wouldn't mind a Leorio knife fight, Madhouse :3
Along with a...Hisoka slaughter session. Especially now censorship isn't a problem.
Kite Flashback Arc. I don't care if it's not canon. This dude deserves it...EVEN IF Madhouse didn't skip him in Episode 1.
Ging motorcycle chase. You know it would be awesome. This should be some time during the Kite Flashback Arc.
But in the meanwhile can't wait for some Zepile goodness! Ok...it's not really action packed. But c'mon Zepile is brimming with personality.

Come to think of it, on the very first shot we see Kurapika's earring (during Majitani's fight), there's only one. Sure, it could be just the angle, but MH went with it being the only one.
I'll probably re-read some chapters in a few minutes to check it.

I think that these 2 episodes will be very similar to episode 57 and 58 of 1999 anime in term of content.
So it will most likely be like this :
Episode 48: 4 chapters + all the Gon's License stuff (lots of cuts in sight)
Episode 49: 2 chapters + hopefully, Kirua's story about his father during their conversation.

Hmm, I'm very sceptical about that rush.
Now I think the next few episodes will go like this:
Episode 48: It is very probable they'll omit the part with Gon's group searching for Phantom Troupe fruitlessly. I think they could start the episode with them just finishing this search and discussing what to do next, that is to use the internet for their search. Then it's also possible the whole thing with Gon pledging his license and even them bying Southern Peace catalogue. Tho I'll be definitely not excited about those changes, I don't see the other way to fit chapters 85 through 88 and even more in just one episode.
Episode 49: It is almost certainly gonna be ch. 89-90 and maybe even the first third of ch. 91. I'll even guess that the part with Nostrade hiring the Zoldycks and other assasins will be moved to the next episode. And I hope they'll include Killua's story now at least. It's too bad they didn't show it before the fight, as it would have made more impact, but what's done is done. Now I hope they at least don't omit it at all.
Episode 50: If they will decide to move the 2nd half of ch. 89, the episode will most probably start with it. Then it should cover the rest of 91, 92 and I'd say the start of 93 with more of Novu and Uvo friendship touching stories. Then I hope it'll end with last pages of 94 with Neon running away.
I really hope MH will change some things with Killua and Gon running away part. It was said in manga that when they managed to do so, the Requiem was also nearing its end. But it could be easily overlooked, and I doubt anime could make those remarks. So it's probably better to simply rearrange the storytelling. The episode 51 should show the start of the Requiem, and only then they should show Gon&Killua running away. It would be much easier to remember everything, as I nearly forgot about them trying to call Kurapika during the Requiem, but the viewers wouldn't forget them if they still would be imprisoned.
If my guess is right and MH will change this part, then I think episode 51 would cover 95-mid 97, ending with Chrollo directing the Requiem. Then episode 51 should cover the missing second half of 93, 94 and the rest of 97, ending with Gon&Killua calling Kurapika. Episode 53'd be Requiem end and Zoldycks vs Chrollo, chapters 98-99. Then 54 is the rest of September the Third (100-101) with Spiders being presumably dead and everything being fine. Probably will end with Kurapika meeting the others. Then September the Fourth is left with 8 episodes till the 12-pack end, just like the 1st OVA did. Now I hoped they'd pace THIS part up a bit as it was a little dragged in the Nippon version imo, but they decided to do so with Zepile stuff.
Anyway, the arc is almost definitely gonna finish with the start of the Winter season now.

I finally understand why those little omission MH does feel so uneasy to me. There's this russian proverb (couldn't find an english alternative) which says that if the first act has a gun hanging on the wall, it will definitely shoot in the last one. That means that every little hint that the author gives will turn into a greater event later. And I found very interesting and original about HxH that it doesn't follow this pattern. Remember, for example, Silva saying, that Killua will definitely return to the 'path of evil' or sth like that. It didn't happen yet, and knowing Togashi I'd be almost sure it won't. Another example is Hisoka whispering something to Bodoro in the last phase of Hunter Exam, which seemed like a great mistery, that we know for sure now isn't gonna be solved. Togashi has many characters who seem to have a major role in the story but don't due to them being killed before they have a chance to shine. Even Gon's search for money was totally pointless as they didn't gather the needed amount, but still got the chance to play nevertheless. Some Milluki parts were of the same sort.

What effort? I know I probably sound like a wet blanket but have you guys actually seen a real GOOD amv?
Anyone with a basic understanding of windows movie maker and a computer can change the audio track.
But making a REAL amv takes a considerable amount of time, effort, and talent.
And no you do NOT need Sony Vegas to make good amvs. If you know how you can work miracles with Movie Maker.

It's going to take a while but I've been working on a HxH MMV (manga music video). I'm about halfway done.
I can't guarantee that you'll like it. Maybe you'll hate it. But one thing is for sure. It sure as hell ain't no slide show. :)

I hate when youtube takes down the really good amvs, its tough trying to find one to replace it in my heart.
but anyway, I hope they make a recap episode like the one after the hunter exam and play the entire ending song in it, that recap took me by surprise and im glad we got one.

Watching episode 57 of the 1999 series to see what they left out to get an idea for 2011's episode 49
Here's what was missing/shortened from episode 57 of the 1999 series
The episode starts at Chapter 85 page 1 and goes through to page 7.
Then on Pages 8 and 9 we get a whole bunch of info about Greed Island in the manga.
This is skipped to the part on Page 9 where Leorio says the minimum bid is 8.9 billion jenny and they have to raise the money.
Elapsed time so far including Opening: 3 minutes 15 seconds
Pages 10 and 11 are skipped where they discuss capturing the spiders. Also 12 and much of 13 is skipped and it goes straight to
Gon interested in the Benz knife. Instead of Leorio explaining the silent auction it's the guy selling the Benz knife who explains.
Leorio's haggling scene is skipped it goes straight to Killua seeing that the knife is real.
elapsed time: 5:38
We are now in Chapter 86. Milluki isn't shown and Leorio posting ads isn't shown. Gon and Killua's search for items is shortened a little.
The scene in the manga where Gon and Killua are too late to register is skipped and it goes straight to the guy who was trying to rip
them off before ZEPILE :) saves the day.

Zepile's eating lunch is skipped which is about half a page and it goes straight to Zepile asking how they appraised the pieces.
Milluki cameo. Pretty much all the Zepile's scenes are virtually kept in full.

Skips Taloon and goes to the last page of the chapter with the hagglers. Now Chapter 88.
The part where Zepile tells Gon and Killua to keep an eye and make sure nobody steals
anything is skipped and it goes right to arguing about different doctoring methods

There's a slight filler with Gon asking the hagglers about the different doctoring methods (in the manga he asks Zepile)
The filler includes Zepile's thoughts on Gon.

then we get the explanation on ostomy. Leorio calls with news on the Spiders and Gon and Killua leave for that. Ends at about Page 2 of Chapter 89

I think what will probably happen is that it will end in the middle of Chapter 88.
It would actually work better to have the ostomy explanation in the beginning of Episode 49 as it will then be closer to when they have to use it to escape Nobunaga.
