Summary:

"Hard working" or "passionate" was not in Sakurai’s vocabulary and joining a team sports in school was out of the question. But one day, he accidentally walks in on his female classmate Toyoguchi naked in the locker room and in return for keeping it a secret from everyone else, he is forced to become the manager for the female lacrosse team. Toyoguchi is passionate about lacrosse and was responsible for creating the team for the school. Sakurai reluctantly begins his role as manager but is slowly drawn into Toyoguchi’s personality and begins researching and enjoying the sport. The once lazy Sakurai who was scared of failure now learns to put himself out there and put serious effort into something worthwhile.

Though the lazy and good looking Sakurai from oneshot sounded more promising than the generic, shy Sakurai with some kind of trauma, I still like the new one. But the first Sakurai looked less cliché, in my opinion.

Toyoguchi still funny and refreshing. Charisma is one of her names.

Just have some time to read this. The one shot was great, but the first chapter of serialization is better. It's funnier, more charming and also has better flow compared to the one shot. Somehow I prefer this Sakurai compared to the one shot Sakurai. By making Sakurai more "generic" as you said, the chemistry between him and Toyoguchi is better IMHO. Toyougchi evil grin is priceless.

now I've read the first few chapters I've gotta say this should really be more of a hit than early signs indicate, if only on how crazily good toyoguchi's face is. that's design work on a purely emotional level, and's just.... crazy effective.

Personally I hope this has a good life just so we can see more of her

3rd Chapter came out. I think that girl has a crush on Toyoguchi, which would explain here excessive hatred for Sakurai.

So I'm a bit further along in this and man, whilst the series has flaws that kinda explain why it isn't doing well at all (never mind that shonen jump seems to not have much of an interest in majority female casts, sadly), I'm still madly into the character designs, especially Unari and Sanari, who are just cute as the dickens.

Like even if this dies in the next round of serialisations, I'm gonna remember Kaito's aesthetics for a good long time. It's cool.

5th chapter, finally.
People can be assholes, but now Sakurai has the determination to be manager.

Dude, you're in the US, you literally could have read the first 20 chapters by now. That's dedication

And the current chapters seem very good.
(Yes, I have "read" the raws. Cross Manage is the only new series of SJ that I'm rooting for)

I've been following the series on the official Shonen Jump release in the U.S., and it's an incredible series!
