I thin it was smart from Togashi to not show anything of the massacre. In this way, the Ryodan looks more cruel and the message is way more mysterious.

LOL, most probably. He maybe has scrapped it, but I doubt He's comfortable with it. I HOPE we have a glimpse of it in the movie, but I'm more interested in Ryodan motivation now. :O

About the ending, I have only one comment...

I think you guys are seeing it the wrong way...
I believe the message was left there in the end as a warning, so no one would go and try to track them down (it was like that when Ryuseigai was first "found"). The reason for the attack could be as simple as Kuroro wanted to see the brightest red (as he is some sort of pseudo-philo-smart jerk, or so he thinks), or someone else ordering the Ryodan to do the same.
Considering what has been done to the Kurata, it's clear that they have done nothing to Ryuseigai, otherwise only the ones responsible would be directly affected (as they usually dictates; they only extend it to others if their deliberations lead them to believe someone else has ordered the offense and should take responsibility).
