You think that would be the last thing to do, especially in Gantz. Since it's always been war type setting.
If they were being responsible they would have shot the giants instead of setting them up for porn + sport.
What's an axiom in Gantz is that superior teams who has no trouble purging hordes of fodder aliens will immediately get ROFLstomped by a special alien just to show off how dangerous that thing is.
Then Tokyo enters and cleans up the mess.
This particular US team (I refuse to believe this is the only US team, nor the US team responsible for the victory) wanted to do TV instead of just winning the war. I'd say they got what they deserved.
