Beautiful, I really liked this chapter, specially after how stale the last few were. As much as I tried to think about this I just couldn't figure out what was it that akiyama had done. First part of his plan is completely flawless. Akiyama throws his ace so that others can bead on it. That other guy offers all of his money which immediately becomes available to akiyama. Even if kimura would have tried to outbit that guy she would have only ended up giving more money to akiyama. In turn with the money akiyama received from that guy he had more than twice what was available to kimura's group so there was no scenario under which they could outbid akiyama. If anything outbidding that guy would have made akiyama richer. More importantly, akiyama took advantage of the fact that pigs don't advance to the next round. The ideal scenario for them is to have a sole winner making a load of money and having as many people as possible removed from the game.
I wonder if there is a flaw in akiyama's plan though. Weren't they cornered for a while now? If akiyama had come forward and told them how screwed they were then there really is no reason for them to have remained in the game. Wouldn't profit have been greater for everyone if all of them had given up their cards so that a sole person wins? Also, isn't nao out of the game by now?

Re: Liar Game Spoiler Thread
Praise be to all the fictional omnipotent beings, we have an end to this arc in sight! I had to stop posting in this forum because I got bored with repeatedly posting "Jesus H. Christ, why won't this damned arc just end already!?!?"
Even considering that the moves might not be over (there are still 3 lots remaining and it might be financially worthwhile to cause cult members to lose to increase the money supply to help pay off people's debts), I can't see how this game extends past another chapter. Actually, scratch that, I could see another 2-3 chapters explaining stuff you can logically figure out: Akiyama and Nao teamed up to clear everyone of their debt and advance onto the next round (Nao will do what Akiyama did at the start of the game and take someone's place).
Ideally, we get another chapter or two cleaning up things here and at the other location (if we get a long overview of what happened there, I'm going to kill someone), then we can move onto another game. While there has been some need to chart things in almost every single game since the first revival game, hopefully the next game is nothing like this game which required the reader to meticulously chart the player's cards and money counts to have more than a vague idea of what is actually going on.

Re: Liar Game Spoiler Thread
The remaining lots are irrelevant, the only one who can get them is akiyama anyways.
I just had a thought about how nao could continue in the game though. What if she takes abe's place and debt? nao has money and can pay her own debt and she is certainly not getting a pair now so this would be the most efficient way to advance and hurt harimoto's group.

Re: Liar Game Spoiler Thread
The remaining lots allow players to knock out members of the cult, and Akiyama is not the only one who can get them because he just transferred 828 coins to other players by buying lots. (Whether that is the best move would require way too many calculations to figure out)
I mentioned that Nao will almost certainly take another's place, but I doubt it is going to be Abe's place. Saving all of the other characters by clearing their debts will almost certainly require Taninaka winning the discarded Jack and having Nao take his place. (they don't have to clear his debt if someone else shoulders it)

Re: Liar Game Chapter 165 Discussion/166 Prediction
The game has pretty much been one of the worst choices for a manga like Liar Game, I think Kaitani just wanted to make the game as complex as he can. But he failed, since this is kind of a passing round, we KNOW, WE JUST KNOW, Akiyama and Nao are bound to pass, why make the rules and the game it self so complex?
I do prefer if he goes into an outdoor setting like the Musical Chairs Game, and whole Grand Battle between a lot of players, I would not mind that scenario, not fond of the closed card game setting. :/

Re: Liar Game Chapter 165 Discussion/166 Prediction
The game itself was not quite complex though.... It was pretty standard, the issue was that the author did do a good job misleading us in regards to how the game works. Most of us did think the point of the game was to get cards as cheaply as possible and sell your own for as much as possible. In turn the game was in fact to cooperate. Much like we have seen in other games the best option was to lose the game and have 1 person win. The person who is chosen to move on with the support of other characters can easily get whatever hand he wants.
The problem with the game itself was pace however the ending was every bit as good as any other game we have seen. I mean, akiyama did end up figuring out an aspect of the game which most of us missed. Kimura was set up beautifully so that there was not way she could ever outbit akiyama. All of her team's money was taken...

This chapter is good only because the previous chapters are not. Still, i hope as before the explanations are more awesome than the reveal. Hope they show a glimpse of what happened to Yokoya and end this arc (I expect that Yokoya had majority control over the tablets by some psychological advantage so he gets to win).
I really wish that Harimoto is still the true leader of the group and lets Kimura call the shots at this game because he thought that this is a game about buy low/sell high and not majority.

Yeah I'm expecting a complete rout on Yokoya's side with the possible exception of Fukuaga.
Pretty good chapter overall, looking forward to Akiyama doing his thing next week.

You mean an aspect of the game that Kaitani has been beating us over the head with for years and Nao mentioned at the start of the game? (Nao's work together goal was slightly different, but the sacrifice one player to free everyone angle has been used repeatedly before)
