I'll let you know if we ever find one who reads Vagabond.
exactly, i would think more people would be reading a manga by one of the greats of manga, but i guess not
I recently finished all the 20 volumes available (like 20 minutes ago :tem). What wonderful art. So fluid. I'm in love with it.
I especially liked the Kojiro arc. I thought that in terms of characters and plot it was much deeper and better developed. Musashi is such a log, heh.
_________________________________________________Yay, victory! Got volume 22 at last.
So if anyone still wants them here are volume 21 and 22 raw.

i prefer musashi, only because he can actually talk. i like kojiro but he is deaf! I know it adds to his character but i like to see what the characters think. Why couldnt kojiro fucking think?
Here is a plot summary:
Growing up in 17th century Sengoku era Japan, Shinmen Takezou is shunned by the local villagers as a devil child due to his wild and violent nature. Running away from home with a fellow boy at age 17, Takezou joins the Toyotomi army to fight the Tokugawa clan at the battle of Sekigahara. However, the Tokugawa win a crushing victory, leading to nearly three hundred years of Shogunate rule. Takezou and his friend manage to survive the battle, and afterwards swear to do great things with their lives. But after their paths separate, Takezou becomes a wanted criminal, and must change his name and his nature in order to escape an ignoble death. Based on the book "Musashi" by Eiji Yoshikawa, Vagabond is a fictional retelling of the life of Miyamoto Mushashi, often referred to as the "Sword Saint" - perhaps the most famous and successful of Japan's sword fighters.

Yeah, I noticed the Otsu mistake too late. It's fixed in my translation, but it was too late to put the fix in Neo's release. I was also being absolutely accurate to the Japanese with the name, it is actually Otsuu, but I suppose it looks better as Otsu.
Yoshioka Seijuro in Viz.Quote:
How do you spell Seijuurou? Is it just Seijuro?
So it looks like we're getting chapter 209 this week which is fabulous. Take a look at the spoiler pic on Inoue Takehiko's website: http://www.itplanning.co.jp/images/w...gabondpic.html

I'll be back with more comments later.
Only 16 pages and not much text, I'll translate it later today.
Pretty much, Kojiro is dancing about hitting things with his stick, and Musashi is reflecting on how Kojiro is the embodiment of truth/whatever, and wondering why he (Musashi) took the long way around to attaining that truth. His sword, or even that stick in his hands could have taught him. Of course, while Musashi is doing his thinking Kojiro is bugging him by hitting him and things.
Short summary anyway.
That's great. Thank you for the summary, zindryr.
Is it just me, or is Inoue's art style slipping a bit lately? I mean, Kojiro looks like a sketch of himself.
Oh, new preview pic for chapter 210: http://www.itplanning.co.jp/images/w...gabondpic.html
There we go, #209 translated. Good chapter, and it made me see a better translation, (sorry Neo), for some of the words I'd used in the previous chapter. In any case, pretty much what my summary said.
Not so much discussion of what is going to happen but like hey we like this too and we appreciate what you guys do or whatever (not for me because i do so little but for zindryr and you for your knowledge.)
I have been doing this since january and i am used to people just leeching and running. Its just that this was a discussion forum first and people did say stuff in the beginning. I mean mangahelpers is usually a pretty talkative place but i guess that is the way things are.
But the preview for chapter 210 is up on his website. :darn
