No more than are complaining now. We haven't gotten many answers since then and the ones we have gotten have seemed half-hearted. Least with that ending we can imagine it's better in our heads.

It's definitely a stretch to say Haikyu!! couldn't have done as well without the promotion. Especially considering the promotion was done in response to the popularity, not the other way around.

It's only the rival for the series if a series has a "series-wide rival" which most don't...especially a series that just started. I doubt a manga that's 10 chapters long has very many options.
