  1. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

I count 2175 actual issues and 2312 numbered issues if you count double issues for 2 instead of 1.

    Year // Issues // Numbered // Difference
    68: 11 // 11 // 0
    69: 28 // 28 // 0
    70: 50 // 52 //...
  2. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

1790 will be in Issue 22-23. 1800 will be in Issue 33.
  3. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

Promotion for the HxH movie on the cover, yet no news for the manga's return? Boo.
  4. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

I'm pretty sure he thought he might be "halfway done" when he was doing Alabasta. :P It will definitely go on for a while to say the least.
  5. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

The last DB chapter was full color.
  6. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

Shouldn't there be a new thread by now?
  7. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

Yeah, I had a mini heart attack myself until my eyes were able to take in the whole announcement. :P As always, I am super excited about new HxH material. New one shot, new movie, new volumes,...

I second Psyren deserving an anime. Muhyo & Roji would be great as well. :)

Agreed. 18 issues of hiatus so far...here's hoping it'll be back by the time we get past the 30 issue mark. :)

    Currently Reading:

    1. One Piece
    2. HxH
    3. Naruto (I wish it would just end...just reading due to how much I have invested in the series)
    4. Bleach
    5. Mago (Only since it's in Alpha)

[Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk

The forum as a whole does, in fact, act on the 8 week assumption. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to, but without concrete evidence showing the contrary, those of us that do hold to...

[Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk

Makes sense. I mean what else were they going to do? Bakuman ended so they needed a replacement, Kenshin isn't going to last long, and they are trying to have every series in the mag be 2 weeks...
  13. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Just a friendly reminder...make sure to mark spoilers appropriately...not everyone is caught up to every jump series. :)
  14. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I actually think that's a good sign that the chapter drawings are not perfect. He hasn't drawn like that since early '06 before the 20 month hiatus. He'd always fix the drawings for the volume...
  15. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Kochikame made its debut in 1976 in Issue 42. There were 10 chapters that year since there were only 52 issues w/ 48-49 being a double issue. Below are how many issues there were in each subsequent...
  16. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I actually counted using information from http://www.biwa.ne.jp/~starman/index.htm and then cross referenced the information with the chapter titles from the tanks and wsj issues from 2010/2011. I've...
  17. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Kochikame is on 1732 (assuming both chapters in Issue 51 of 2011 were normal chapters), Naruto is on 574, Gintama is on 389, and Inumaru is on 166. Other than those everything else looks good. :)
  18. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto I don't mind so much since they are in Shonen Jump Alpha (4 chapters behind isn't all that bad). Claymore, HxH, and D. Grey are not all that behind with volume releases,...
  19. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

A new Embalming chapter after 486 days and HxH NOT going on hiatus? Merry Christmas indeed! :D
  20. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

    Rats...I misread that too.... :(
  21. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Psyren and Muhyo & Roji would be fun to see animated. It would also be nice to see some later arcs of certain mangas get animated (Jinchu arc of Kenshin and the rest of Neuro for instance). As for...
  22. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Ah, that makes sense. I thought that there were other instances where there were only 51 Issues in a year, but I just checked and it looks like there has been at least 52 issues a year since 1970....
  23. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Huh...didn't realize that Issue 1 was next week. When was the last time we only had 51 issues?
  24. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I think we can both agree that this is not an exact science. You can pull a bunch of different examples of series that ended from all sorts of situations, but that doesn't mean the same thing will...
  25. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Do you remember Bokke-san? It was promoted right before the end as well. I'll agree with you that it's not over yet, but I doubt anyone will really be shocked to see it go. Being excluded from Jump...
  26. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

It does feel like a bad omen. I actually like Harisugawa better than all the other 2011 new series, so I will definitely be bummed if it's canceled. :/
  27. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Yes. I don't think it impacts the data as much as you are claiming. Since this is just us going back and forth we should probably take this to PMs from here...didn't realize how many posts we have...
  28. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Yeah...that's why I said, "If we just remove series that did not last the whole year then the year summary data would be very similar to this website's approach to calculating averages." :P
  29. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

You do realize that a larger sample size leads to more accurate results right?
  30. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Thanks for the link. :) It is nice to see that they only use a sample of 10 chapters, but it still runs into the absences problem (One Piece is an average of 8 scores compared to HxH's 10 scores for...
  31. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I was going to do something similar once Issue 52's data was out lol. Did you do all the calculations by hand? I have an excel sheet with all the data of series rankings from 2010 and 2011 with...
  32. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

True, but your original post did not specify that you were referring to series that received a 'natural' ending. I just assumed you were talking about established series. Shaman King was canceled yet...
  33. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Psyren ended at the end of 2010 which made its run exactly 3 years. No small feat by jump standards.
  34. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

So then wouldn't Kochikame be 1st and 10th based on this page?
  35. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

Not if your statement is this...
  36. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

Reborn! does not have an anime atm. Still a lot that do though. :) I'll have to check out Kuroko no Basket when it comes out.
  37. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

I'm not sure what constitutes a Lead Color Page, but HxH has had Cover & Color for the following issues after 2005:

    2006 Issue #45
    2008 Issue #14
    2008 Issue #45

It also got cover (but no...
  38. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

Except for short gag manga. ;)
  39. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

Double Arts did get a second cover for it's 13th chapter. The only other series to get another cover so quickly in recent memory was Toriko for its 12th chapter, so I'd say it was pimped a little bit...
  40. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

That's why you read the volume scans instead of the weekly scans (he re-did all of the scetchy chapters).

Dragon Ball was always 15 pages. It's not so uncommen (plus the recent chapters are...
  41. [Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 1

Magico with 33 pages eh? Quite a feat. Usually extra pages only equate to 20 something pages. Things are looking up for Magico while the other 3 new series are taking up residence in the bottom...

[Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk

Sigh...not it DOESN'T get weird with double issues as chapters are ranked based on 8 CHAPTERS not WEEKS. It makes ZERO SENSE to rank chapters by weeks for THIS VERY REASON.

    Sorry for all the caps,...

[Mag Talk] Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk

As I understood it from trends among other conversations and observations the counting is inclusive, so in your scenario chapter 100 would be ranked according to chapter 93's results.
Results 1 to 50 of 130
