Not really. The margins are there for a reason, after all. That's how the mangaka finalized it. I only ever cropped a straight line along the edges after rotating the page to make sure it's straight.

MH used to be the heart of the community, allowing raws, scans and releases to be hosted. That's why I posted my scans and Ju-Ni releases here. But now...
February 11, 2013 05:13 PM
Probably not. I'm sure it's an Asylum Films (or whatever they're called now) knock-off. You know, the guys who did Transmorphers.
December 30, 2010 11:41 PM
I've been saying this for years, but now I'm hearing my cries begin to echo among the masses! The best way to clean is to actually do the work necessary. You need help, find more people...
December 30, 2010 11:39 PM
First, you get a scanner.
Then, you put a page in the scanner.
Then, you scan the page.
Hope that helps! :v
Seriously, though, a few more details would help. Are you using the scanner...
December 14, 2010 12:25 AM
That's kind of dangerous advice. You have to be careful with that. Adjusting the brightness could help the whites at the expense of the blacks.
December 06, 2010 11:26 AM
As zidane said, you might want to adjust your scanning process first. I put a piece of black construction paper behind my pages when I scan them. It prevents bleed-through from the other side of the...
November 30, 2010 12:50 AM
Or you could NOT use a denoiser and try to put some actual effort into your pages. Just a thought.
November 24, 2010 01:08 AM
Well, you need to get rid of the text in panel 1 and you seem to have extended beyond the edge of the panel frame down at the bottom of the same panel. The fine lines are a bit blurry, especially in...
November 16, 2010 02:42 AM
It really depends on what you want, if you're in charge. When I did Angel Heart for Evil_Genius, the ellipses were always horizontal at the end of the last word in the sentence (like this...). For...

My group's working on Bleach and it's licensed. But it's not like we're going to stop anytime soon.
November 03, 2010 09:48 PM
Better. Now zoom in and start getting rid of the rest of the noise. Use a brush instead of the burn/dodge tools. Just black and white, since it's a black and white image. You'll end up with a better...
November 02, 2010 08:31 PM
Stop doing that. Denoisers are a cancer.
October 25, 2010 12:16 AM
Yeah, it'd help if Topaz wasn't used to blur the image. People really should stop saying that it's okay to use.
October 18, 2010 08:14 AM
For the last panel it looks pretty good, though trying to match the gradient might be a bit annoying. I'd say try to eyeball it with the gradient tool, experimenting with the opacity and a whole lot...
October 07, 2010 10:05 PM
Hey, I know that Raw. :3
Makes me sad to see that it was run through denoisers... :(
Let's see... Denoising was mentioned... the blurriness and the noise...
You didn't crop very well. You...
October 07, 2010 08:01 PM
Oh, it just turned into a bad day to be you, Unok. >D
And no, you don't need ANY plugins or filters of any sort, per se. But if you're not doing HQ work, you're free to use whatever you want to...

Wish I'd checked the thread before I went to pick up Young Mag. :s
November 19, 2009 11:02 PM
What I do is to first rotate the pages so they're both straight. Then I change the canvas size of one, usually the left-hand page out of habit, to 15.0 inches. That's a little more than twice the...
October 03, 2009 07:57 AM
I use CDisplay to read, which scales things to the height of my choosing, so it doesn't matter much to me. But Ju-Ni's releases have been at 1500 height for a long time. The RAWs I scan are usually...
September 28, 2009 07:41 AM
I'm assuming Gamaran, based on the other open tab.
September 23, 2009 05:45 AM
Eh, I wouldn't go that far. It still looks pretty bad. The diagonal "pattern" just looks worse. :v
EDIT: vv Eh, I'm too lazy to tilt my head.
September 19, 2009 01:54 PM
Create a pattern in 'Shop and you can copy/paste it into the clean. Trim away the excess with the Polygonal Lasso tool and then redraw anything that needs to be on top of the pattern. Line art,...
September 19, 2009 03:53 AM
Because you're making assumptions? A lot of groups use fonts similar to Anime Ace or WildWords. Those fonts only have SLIGHT variations between capital and lower-case letters. Trust me, they're using...
September 18, 2009 02:25 AM
Ah, that's the one I saw back in the day. :D
Thanks SZ :)
September 17, 2009 12:34 AM
Well, maybe not IMPOSSIBLE, but probably not worth the effort. Finding a better scan would lead to a much better page overall.
If M7 is like Ju-Ni (and I think they are ;) ) the cleaning test...

Oh God! http://vicissitude.ju-ni.net/Emoticons/Gonk.gif
Yeah, that'd be LQ. Definitely. Take a look at some of the raws that come up on the front page. I've uploaded quite a few myself, since I...
September 16, 2009 03:29 AM
Possibly. Can you put up a page as an example?
A few on my team use a tablet. I tried, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I'm using the mouse.

September 15, 2009 08:18 PM
Ahem. AND Ju-ni. http://vicissitude.ju-ni.net/Emoticons/Colbert.gif
And yes, I've spent up to 12 hours on a spread before. Mostly it was a lot of really annoying details. I've since gotten faster,...
September 15, 2009 08:16 PM
That's not the one I found way back when, but still a good idea of what's expected. :)
September 15, 2009 08:23 AM
It might not matter for lower-quality pages, but I do HQ Bleach cleans and it varies by page. Some take an hour or so, some could take upwards of 12 hours. I've had pages like both. Mostly it's all...
September 15, 2009 08:22 AM
Pretty much. LQ is just bare minimum cleaning, if any, at this point. Wipe out the text, maybe level, put new text in.
MQ is more in-depth. Proper leveling, clearing out the noise (dirt, flecks of...
September 12, 2009 06:08 PM
Better, but I still think you're losing a lot of definition in the art. The black line art over the patterns should be touched up a good deal. And in panel 3, for example, the shadow on the wall....
September 11, 2009 04:35 AM
Even factoring in my dislike of filters for cleaning, you overdid it. A lot.
I'd recommend leveling gently and doing your best to try and preserve the patterns as much as possible. As they are...
September 08, 2009 05:51 AM
Technically, that's not the top of my scanner. :3
But yes, it's a simple matter to just crop away the excess. I'd recommend rotating the page first to get the frames as straight as possible, then...
September 06, 2009 12:04 AM
Okay, I can see them now. :)
First off, I'll say that I don't like denoisers. That in mind, let's continue.
You may need to level the image a little to adjust the colors. Increasing the left...

Could you fix the 2nd and 3rd link? They're giving a 404 because the links go nowhere.
