I'm not so sure about that. Itachi clearly couldn't see Orochimaru after bringing out Susanoo, and we saw through Sasuke's eyes of the vision blur and loss of detail when he was looking at Team 7.

Nope.. but Kishi's point about knowledge is clearly made in this battle. If Sasuke had knowledge on the 8-tails jutsus then they would have succeeded in his extraction.
