You can translate the sentence in different ways depends on the context. Examples: XXX has changed to a really big one. XXX is replaced by an enormous one. We have a big one this time. A big one is in charge this time. Any way, I am guessing that there was something small first, and then a big one showed up. (I don't expect this but, if there is no change in size, のに can be "although" instead of "to." Then you will have a totally different translation for it.)
