I'd get our troops out of Iraq.

    P.S. I'm from the U.S.

Edit: I think it should be President or Prime Minister.

as much as i disapprove of the iraqi war, pulling out quickly would be a mistake. I'd increase taxes to get this country outta the deficit bush put us in, do all i could to help the dems get whatever they need to eventaully get troops outta iraq, send more troops to afghan, bitch-slap UK's PM Blair and the Saudi king for being wraped around washington's many pinkies (for god's sack, ur the leaders of your countries! get a backbone!) introduce a federal minimum wage increase bill to match the may states already doing that, introduce more bills to: a federal law requiring all judges to have passed the BAR and law school (cus the local judge here is a complete idiot and extreamly unprofessional), legalize marijuana in a limited way (like alcohol), bring the age for alcohol down to 18, make anti-monopoly laws tougher, more inforced, automatic healthcare for everyone with a much higher tax rate, and make the condition in the cities better.

I'd also get a bunch of advisers and have them put together a long term plan to have new orleans abandon. in the permanent sense. sea levels are rising. letting people stay there will just get them killed.

and of coarse the midnight appointments XD in America, judges can be appointed by the president, and once they're judges, they're judges until they die, or step down; they cannot be fired. so id appoint a bunch of liberal judges in key areas. XD Adams was a smart d00d unfortunately, it didnt work for him, as he was giving judges positions that hadn't been officially made yet, and the senate got rid of the act which made the positions, thus pulling the carpet out from under the judges. *took Advanced Placement American history classes. and managed to stay awake every now and then*

nah, at 18 if you're old enough to elect a president, and to kill a man, you're old enough to drink. as for the pot *shrugs* its not deadly, in fact its mildly healthy, and deaths blame on it are less than 1000 a year. thats a lot more than can be said of alcohol or smoking. and you cant say thats because less people do it. just as many people drink as smoke pot.

and for the record, im 19, i dont drink, i dont smoke, and i dont smoke pot. so dont beleive for a second that im saying that to justify my own dependencies. the only reason i didnt say "make cigs illegal" is cus it would be extreamly hard to do, and it'd have a major negative impact on the us economy. it'd also drive the prices up in most other countries. t3h f00ls...

    I'm not sure about that...

But I would probably agree with lowering the drinking age to 18. Pretty much everyone starts drinking in college anyway, and sometimes it seems like half the fun is doing something you know is illegal. I grew up in a family where I was allowed to drink on occasion, wine at dinner, etc, since I was 14 or so, so I've never really been inclined to go wild. I enjoy drinks, I get drunk sometimes, but for me its more of a social, enjoyable thing than a 'get wasted fast' kind of thing. A lot of my friends who were absolutely forbidden to drink by their parents were pretty out of control when they got to college. I think what it comes down to is how you're taught to see alcohol... if it's made to be some kind of taboo, then the natural reaction is to go crazy, rebel, but if it's something that's allowed within reason, that isn't such a no-no, then it doesn't become such a big deal. I could very well be wrong here, I've never been one to understand the fascination with getting trashed on cheap vodka and even cheaper beer that's so prevalent in college, but I do know, and this I know isn't just me, that after you turn 21 it doesn't become so much of an imperative...

So, anyway, if I were president for a day...the war is definitely a concern for me. My instinct right now is to pull out, but I realize that in truth the solution is much more complicated than that. So, I'm going to go with making universal health care a fact. I think that's incredibly important. Also, if I were president for a day, I'd have someone else make any speeches - public speaking is my absolute worst nightmare

Just wanted to put this out there. There is a big difference between liberal politicians and liberal judges. Of course, there are liberal judges in the sense that they are pro-choice, etc, but when calling a judge liberal, it generally refers to their tendency to interpret the law in a liberal - or generous - way. For example - if the law says "Everyone shall eat Pop-Tarts for breakfast every day because they are full of key vitamins and minerals", a liberal judge might say, well, there are some people who prefer Toaster Strudels, and since they are basically the same sort of thing, and have just as many key vitamins and minerals, it would not be outside the law to eat a Toaster Strudel instead of a Pop-Tart. A conservative judge, on the other hand, would say, the law says everyone must eat Pop-Tarts, and thus eating a Toaster Strudel would be contrary to said law as it is inherently not a Pop-Tart.

Personally, I think what's scary is that politics is playing such a persuasive role in the courts these days. Of course, it always has somewhat, but I think even more so now. The separation of politics from the law is very important in terms of the balancing of power - it's why we have the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. For either of the other two powers to try to influence the judicial branch is wrong, in my opinion.

yeah... it certainly seems that the judicial branch is weaker than the other two right now... more like they are just going with whatever congress says, then really saying whether laws are legal or not.

I will veto an act to give everyone equal chance for everything. I will ban any quota system or any special privileges to make it fair for everyone. Everyone deserves a fair and equal chance to wealth and riches of the country.

I will not legalize abortion, except if the mother's health is directly affected by the pregnancy. I am pro-life and I don't like seeing people killing helpless life in mothers' wombs.

^ Sounds like communism... I'm all for equal opportunity, but be careful, some people really don't deserve as much money as others do for the amount of work they do. I agree that some people get too much, though.

Re: If You Became President/Prime Minister for a Day...

    I will:

+ Confiscate assault firearms, put stricter measures on gun acquisition (i.e. gun buyers must prove you are in stable mental health condition, no major criminal record, especially in the past 5 years, etc.)

Also, increase the age restriction to 21 years old nation-wide (in order to legally purchase any gun).

+ Put tax on health risk products such as tobacco, alcohol, etc., to cover the health care costs, i.e. treating smoking/alcohol related medical conditions.

Besides, any kind of health problem hurts the economy (i.e. decreased productivity, absent from work, etc.)

However, tax increase should be moderate. It shouldn’t be too high that it will make purchase of these products unaffordable.

+ Fund research programs for solar energy, renewable fuel energy resource (such as hydrogen fuel), or any programs that will explore resource alternatives that are earth-friendly.

+ Improve Education, especially in economically deprived neighborhoods.

Make it mandatory that teacher to student ratio does not exceed 1 teacher per 25 students. This means, hire more teachers.

To avoid employing under-qualified teachers, improve the level of training of teachers. Make teaching a more attractive career-of-choice, by offering more incentives, i.e. more benefits, increased pay.

Improve the quality of education, especially at an early level, as in Kindergarten and early Elementary.

Increase funding for programs aimed at higher learning for students.

+ Improve transportation. Add more community transportation, i.e. trains, buses, etc.

This will lessen the clogging of highways (or freeways).

+ Improve Foreign Relations (make more friends as opposed to making more enemies.)

+ Improve border security. Work alongside other countries (i.e. Mexico) to work out a compromise, where immigrants will be more likely to abide by the law, rather than crossing the border illegally.

+ To encourage more people to donate to charities, one incentive is tax relief.

Another possibility is via Super Lotto.

For example, all Super Lotto Contestants have a chance at winning 10 million dollars. What if 2 percent of this money, goes to charity?

That way, at least every contestant contributed to charity, at the same time, they had an opportunity to win 10 million dollars. That doesn't sound too bad.

+ Cut spending, and decrease National Debt (aka deficit).

+ implement some sort of population control. For example, no more than 4 children per family.

Spread awareness of contraceptives to avoid unplanned pregnancy, or safe sex to avoid STDs/AIDS/HIVs.

    + Encourage toleration.

+ Abolish death penalty. Instead, lengthen jail sentences, especially for heavier crimes.

For example, a criminal who normally would be in prison for 5 years, would stay for 6 years.

normally 10 years, to 12 years.
normally 15 years, to 20 years.
normally 20 years, to 30 years.
normally 30 years, to 45 years.

    and so on.
