Ive seen his name spelled in MANY different ways.

my question is simple. just exactly what is his name?
has Miura officially wrote it down somewhere?

it just annoys me to see the hero in a manga change name every other chapter.

According to wikipedia it is: ガッツ (Gattsu).

So, the "u" at the end is dead (I don't know the English term but you don't speak it). Leaving "Gatts", which would be sound like "Guts" in English and "Gats" in Swedish/German.

Offical spelling is Guts, even in the German manga version.

Yes, but even the Japanese wikipedia has listed the name as Guts, which is rare enough that they even bother to list the non-kana/kanji name.

So, I guess it's also the offical name, probably stated by the Mangaka somewhere or just the common offical term for international releases.

It is the official name. Guts has a lot in common with an actual person in history. Miura says he didn't get inspiration from him, but the similiarities are uncanny.

Yeah, like many have said before. Gattsu is the romanization of how it's written in Japanese kana. It sounds like Guts, so that is how it is spelled. Guts.
