If...remember this is a big IF...if one of the character in luffy's crew dies (i know this is sad, i dont want this to happen, and im hating myself for throwing this idea), who should it be?or in other words, which member is the most replaceable/least likeable/most undependable (for whatever reason such as fighting skills, personality clash with other member and so on).please state your reasons and how will he/she/they die(s) with it.
the death can be triggered by one or more following reasons:
1.people get bored with the character(S)
2.people hate the character(S)
3.oda sensei wants an element of surprise and twist in the manga
4.to break out from the 10 people crew.if let say luffy found all the remaining 2 crews (a musician and 1 spot left) and oda decides that he wants to add that extra character to the group but since luffy has completed his words to ONLY get 10 crews, he can't eat his own words.so there you go,badaboom, a character dies, and a search for new member begins
5.oda killed the character so that people love and remember him/her/they more, because it can be a sad death, a sacrificed death, a whatever reasons...
well actually we have seen a member of luffy's crew already "killed",that is going merry.so why not a human now?Personally i'm not seeing oda doing this, because he might be hated by the fans for doing this, but u never know, dont u?
so let me see what you guys think before i response and say who in my opinion should die.
thanks and be nice

well if he is gonna kill anybody (IF...). it can only be someone that expendable, meaning it wont completely mess up there way of getting around. For example HE absolutely cant get rid of Nami. get rid of nami and they cant get around (and yeah its is possible to get another navigator at any moment but none as good as nami) they only one that can be get rid of is ussop, and robin. ussop cant do anything but get beat up and be distraction (but hes a funny charachter) and robin is only along for the ride. but they already had a big thing where they had to save robin's life... no writer is dumb enough to repeat any story how ever similer. so the only conclusion is that ussop is the only candidate for death. but i dont think anybody is gonna die becouse it will change the feel of the story.
Ps. neild. u said that luffy said he would only get 10 crew members. but remember when he met the skeleton guy that could play the violin??? he immediately asked him to be a crew member. so i don't think that luffy is against adding and 11th or even like 15th member. but It probably just that Oda already has enough characters to manage. its looks like soon the straw hats are gonna have to deal with old "friends" red haired shanks, black beard, and smoker. ETC. The story in my opinion is in the final story's before the end.
First of all, I don't think Oda is gonna kill off any of the full-fledged Mugiwaras.
And one more thing, speculations and hints suggest that knowledge in reading the Poneglyphs will become very important as a crew nears Raftel which means Robin will become indispensable. Robin is not only along for the ride, she has a dream she still has to complete just like all the other Mugiwaras. And Usopp is the brave adventurer of the sea, nobody can kill him! XDQuote:
As far as I remember, Luffy said that '10 people sounds about right' or something like that, he didn't say that his crew would only consist of 10 members no more no less. Heck, Luffy rarely plans ahead that far, if he sees a large group of cool characters whom he likes, he'll probably invite them all!Originally Posted by neild
The only reason I can find for Oda wanting to kill off one of the Mugiwaras would be for dramatic effect and not because he has too many characters to manage or somebody is useless. For this reason, I think the most effective way to produce the drama would be kill off Luffy but that would be unreasonable so the second best choice would be Zorro since a lot of fans are rather attached to him and the impact of his death and the end of the dream of one of their nakama would be shatterring to the remaining Mugiwaras and only strengthen their resolve.
As you can see, it is a quite far-fetched scenario so I must restate my opinion that nobody in their crew is going to die. It would only annoy the fans, destroy the story, or take One Piece to a totally different direction.

the point on this thread is if you HAVE TO remove someone from the crew, who will it be?or who they might be.in other words, if you can only carry 7 out of 8 people they have right now, who would you prefer die and how..the reason is maybe just because you dont like him/her.this is sort of a popularity contest among the character but interpreted in different way.
as i have said on my first post im also sad if one of em dies and dont see this happening, but hypothetically if u can remove or erase one of the character, who should go...as simple as that
u can also talk about who u dont like and why now, right?
OT: i dont know, ussop is not so expendable, cause among the crew, he's luffy's best pal. i think ussop is most likely (if there is) luffy's bestfriend. all of them very important... hmm... oda did say he doesnt like killing major chars. plus if oda will be criticized of being soft to the crew, he did kill going merry, which is the most touching killed character ever, and boosted the plot to new heights instead of changing the atmosphere
robin dying would hurt me the least
well seeing the mix responses from people,i think its time for me to tell who in my opinion should die
for me usopp is the least dependable in terms of fighting.thats probably the main reason why i think he is despensesable(im not sure i spelled it right).
and im kinda tired with his frighten and lying attitude, seeing those sogeking crap that he said,or whether he is boasting that he is so powerful and have hundred thousand of followers.its just make me sick..u see him keep on losing every battle, got beaten up,losing hundreds of millions beli because of his weakness, coz a turmoil within the crew because of his inability to depart with merry who can no longer sail, fight with his own captain for stupid reason.losing a battle once its okay,twice..its still not annoying, over and over?i just hate seeing him scared everytime he faces a battle.currently with his fighting skills,i dont see him fits the crew of future pirate king, not even worthy.bottomline luffy needs strong people in his crew.im not saying that people can't be weak, but to enter an elite member of pirate king crew you should be strong,or else where can you get the respect from ur enemy.are u gonna keep hiding behind luffy's shadow and hope he won every fights for you?no way, stand up and win your own battle.i just hope that weakness or lack of fighting skills can be replaced with something more valuable.
take for instance, used to be a poor fighter(not now though, her thunder ball i thought was pretty awesome, and can see this sustained for the future) .but she covers it with brain thinking (definetly needed in this crew),navigating skills, maping skills, beauty, great sense of money, good sense of finding liars and etc...
chopper, again used to be a deadweight in terms of fighting (unless he can find a way to control that monster thingy within him),but amongst all member,he got the skill that every people needs, that is the ability to heal people.and this i found the most valuable.if u sick and cant recover, can u even think about ur dream to become pirate king?
so unless usopp step up in the next few arcs, i see him quitting the crew not hurting at all.to tell u the truth, when i see him leave the crew at cp9 arc i thought...finally....that sense of gladness cumulates into one happiness.i thought his fight with luffy was pretty lame, please luffy u can find another sniper somewhere...
None of the strawhats are expendable... period.
So if I have to remove one.. I'm gonna choose luffy .. because if the strawhats have to loose a real human member... I want the series to end. I love all the mugiwara and I realized when ussop and luffy had thier little falling out at Water 7 if even any one of them was missing the loss would be palpable.
But considering Oda's Ban on Death. We won't be loosing a strawhat in that way until maybe the very end of OP. And even then it'll probably be luffy and it'll mirror Gol D. Roger's execution.
when you're talking about expendability in terms of fighting skills, it is ussop. but as a whole, nobody in the sh pirates is left out. oda is great, makes sure every character is really part of the crew. plus i love ussop, really. i cant say i dont like anyone least either. i love them all. eh, maybe robin cos i only like the funny guys
Well, I already wanted Brook to die, and he did. Looks like MY OP wish came true. But seriously, Oda already said that he doesn't really "kill" most characters.
Heck, Oda rarely kills his villains, I doubt he'll get rid of a main character, which he sort-of already did with Vivi.
I don't really think any of them will die.
Only time can tell.
Oh Wait, I know who'll die: All of them... eventually anyway... when they're really old... they'll have to die sometime... of old age anyway, no one's immortal... right? >.< [/stupid logic]
none of them is going to die.. hmm any1 in the OP universe ever died? except brooke.. i dont think any1 died..
The FIRST PAGE of One Piece showed someone dying: Gold Roger. But yeah, people have died. Just they almost always die in flashbacks. Examples: Ussop's mother, Bellemere, Kuina, Dr. Hilruk, Yama (the guy Robin fought in the Survival Game on Skypiea in the Lost City of Shandora), Montblanc Norland, Tom (well, it was implied) everyone on Ohara, with Saul and Olivia's shown specifically, and maybe some others. Villains sometimes die too, and they do die in the present. Examples: that marine who got shot when he objected to destroying a fellow marine ship that Luffy and Lucci were fighting on, Ms. Friday and that vulture, the Priests of Skypiea, and probably some others. And some people certainly SEEM to be dead, and you'd never guess that they were alive until the end of the arc when they're shown to be alive. Examples: Pell, Igaram, Pagaya (Gonis's father) Dorry, most of the Shandians who fought with Wiper, Going Merry (did people really think that it would show up again after Kaku knocked it into the ocean?) and probably some others. It's just that rarely does anyone die in the present, let alone a good guy, and if it looks like a good guy died, they usually turn out to be fine.
And none of the Straw Hats will die, unless it's Luffy being executed the same way Roger was at the end of the manga. Oda-sensei never keeps MINOR good guys dead, they always turn out to have survived somehow, so of course he won't kill off a Straw Hat. And to those who say "Ussop is weak and useless and annoying", he's gotten MUCH less annoying since around Alabasta (seriously, he was much worse before then) he isn't that weak (so he couldn't take a CP9 member, what does that prove? Luffy took two, leaving him one too strong for him, Jabra, the third strongest of them. Nami took out the weakest CP9, Kalifa, yet nobody calls HER weak. My point is, he could probably have taken, say Fukurou, and Franky could have taken Blueno, it's just that Luffy took Blueno first, leaving Ussop no chance.) and above all, Luffy said when fighting Blueno "I have nakama who're not strong, but I still want them to be with me! So, I have to be stronger then anybody else, or I'll lose them all!" In other words, even if a crew member is weak, if they're Luffy's friend, he won't care, and he'll fight to the death for them.
But, people only really die in flashbacks, it seems. Aside from the CP9, the Whiskey Peak bounty hunters, those Marines at EL, Shura, Ohm, those fat guys at Skypiea,...Brook, I guess.
