Welcome, welcome~ I think it's safe to say that many of our members are bilingual and even multilingual on different levels. To share and discover common languages and native tongues, this thread was created. This information could be very useful to MH, so don't hesitate to let everyone know what languages you are fluent in. Of course, don't be afraid to mention any other tongues that you know even some of.
As someone that only speaks English, I have a deep respect for those that are bilingual or more. Browse through the list to see who else might know your languages. Don't be afraid to discuss any stories about how you learned to speak/understand a language and discuss. As you can see, the list is very extensive already. Have at it, guys.
Special Note: Our translators can be found here. - GK

and a little japanese when spoken
I know English and some Spanish (but not too much, since this is still my first year taking it.)
Can read and speak dutch
How handy... i can read german
Occasional line of latin, should be able to get the general idea with a dicionary or not too difficult sentence
A little bit of french
Sometimes a few words of english too
English, french, vietnamese, a little spanish and I'm currently learning japanese. (altough I can't read!)
I'm French, I understand english (that's why I'm here).
I remember a little Italian and Spanish from when I was in highschool, and a little Japanese from my college years ( I read kanas, understand a simple talk, but can't really read a newspaper...or anything else :|).They tried to make me learn corean, vietnamese an chinese, but i don't remind anything, was too busy not remembering my kanjis...-_-
I know spanish, english, and a liite arab.
I know English and can speak Mandarin Chinese (but I can't read or write it...)
Swedish, English, German and a little Japanese (can't read though).
I am totally fluent in German, Greek, English... my french is alright-ish, my spanish probably below average, oh and I ve got the small latinum (latin degree) ...
hmm i've got english and chinese (mandarin) down, and a little french
german ( even i dont like it ) and english and very little russian/french and currently trying to learn japanese
OK, this is about me so far:
1) Latvian - native
2) English - advanced
3) Russian - great understanding, but bad writing
4) French - what do you expect after learning it for 13 years
5) German - good understanding, but bad writing
6) Japanese - basic knowledge and going up
7) Spanish - ability to understand because of French
I'm fluent in Filipino (native language) and English (the other official language in our country). I took up French some time ago but stopped around second grade-level (what was being taught to second graders). I seriously have to review it if I want to pursue it again, perhaps even start from scratch. I might be able to understand a little bit of Spanish, thanks to Filipino borrowing a lot from it. Of course there's the occasional Japanese that was picked up from watching anime xD
Norwegian and English top notch.
(Norwegian includes an understanding of both Danish and Swedish)
Also took German for some years, don't remember a lot of grammar rules and such, but I can read it surprisingly well.
