Badges and speculation

Think about it, at the moment, Soul Society is down 3 Captains, and for the Gotei 13 to become the Gotei 15, they'd need to find 4 more Captains [and Ichigo if he were to die]. So far, we know that Renji could take over one of the spots as a Captain, and Ikkaku another, but no other already developed character has a Bankai for all we know. (Plus, Ikkaku said he wants to stay in the 11th Squad till he dies...again?).

not true there were two other people from 11th division who developed bankais but havnt told anyone about it beacuse they want to keep it a secert from their leader.... remember?

eh... the bald guy whos name is alsmost the same as ichigo's and then the one guy who is absesed with makeing himself look good remember? iti wasnt even that long ago

Erm, anyway, yeah. Three spots to fill for Captain-ship. But I'm thinking, Rukia has developed a ShiKai (and she's not even a seater in he Division? Or have I forgotten something XD) And she did say that her brother had made sure that she doesn't get any position so she can stay safe (how ironic ) It's possible that she may sooner or later, attain BanKai and may take a position as Captain.

Oh, and Ikkaku did say that he'll fight under Kenpachi's leadership forever. ^_^ (<33333 Baldy)

And about the theory, I don't think he'll die that early either. But it still keeps me thinking. XD And we'll never really know about Bleach. =S It may be one of the few mangas where the main character would die. (ouch...)

That's Ikkaku (baldy) and Yumichika. XD I don't think Yumi has attained BanKai yet. He's only revaled what it truly is. A demon art type sword, or something.

Nah, Dragonzair, I'm a HimeXIshida fan, and an TatsukiXIchigo fan. Its just that she's so in love with Ichigo, and seeing her cry...

Anywho, Yumichika may have a Bankai...which, that will be interesting to see. All the Bankai we've seen have been the same 2 types...we've never seen an energy type Zanpaktou Bankai, have we?

Lets think!
Non-Elemental/Non-Energy Based:

• Ichigo, Ikkaku, Byakuya, Shunsui, Jyuushiro, Komamura, Tousen, Kurotshuchi

Elemental:

• Yama-jii, Hitsugaya

Energy based:

• None so far...?

Energy based would be something like Yumichika or Hinamori (hers shoots out fireballs or some crap like that)...I wonder what an energy based Zanpaktou Bankai would be. :P

Now...back on topic:
Based on this theory, there are 5 seats to fill (the Ichigo = 15th division captain foreshadowing theory). And yes, Rukia is not a seated member of her division because of the interference of Byakuya. She's easily Vice-Captain level though, and seeing her with a Bankai would be awesome methinks.

For the other Vice-Captains, I don't think any of them have Bankai (obviously Renji does)...and there still IS the chance that Yumichika does too (considering his and Ikkaku's relationship), but I believe he's with Ikkaku on wanting to be in the 11th Squad till he dies.

Now, to have Aizen or Gin (or maybe even Grimjaw...nah, not Grimjaw) kill Ichigo, him keep his spiritual powers, and return back as a REAL Shinigami would be interesting. He'd be more powerful that way. As its been said by Byakuya AND the anti-Ichigo, his mortal body can't handle the stress of Bankai on his body, so Ichigo dying would prove useful in battle (that sounds pretty odd..."Yeah, going and dying in battle would be useful..."). Somehow though, I don't see him dying. He's come so far as a Human/Shinigami, it might be a shame to kill him and bring him back as a REAL Shinigami.

Yeah, you're right. Rukia is an Ice-type Zanpaktou, but she doesn't have a Bankai (that we know of) so I didn't include her in the list.

Yeah, I can't imagine him beating Ichigo either...well NOW anyway. Before, he was going to kick Ichigo's ass, but Tousen stopped the fight...

As for one of the main characters dying? Could be...but I don't want any of them to die! Bleach is one of those rare anime that I don't dislike any of the characters at all...I wouldn't want any of them to die. If someone has to die, why the HELL can't it be Don Kanonji?! Seriously though, IF one had to die, my guess would be Ichigo, because he couuld make a return from Soul Society as a real Shinigami.

About that whole reiatsu sensing thing: Remember that people who have incredibly strong reiatsu can hide it very well (except Ichigo because he's an idiot).
And Ishin said if power was measured by your the size of your zanpakuto, then everyone would be walking around with enormous zanpakutos.
This means Ichigo's dad in insanely strong, since he's been able to hide it from so many people.
The point is strong people can easily hide their reiatsu(except ichigo for now), making it hard to find them.

Maybe the first 13 divisions are designed for SS protection whereas higher divisions are for royal guards/super secret stuff

heh if u think about it that kinda makes seneces if u put it like this u have the first 13 squads the ones we know about then if u count the specail ops team as a 14th u can count the royal guard as a 15th? lol idk it sounds pretty absurd

15 seems to play a large role in Bleach, actually. Going through all the chapters again, I see it at least 3-5 times eery volume in covers, clothes etc.

Hmmm a thought. Looking at the badge, its obviously a hollow mask design. And behind it an "X" mark. Now I wonder if its possible that the badge, rather than being made as something convenient for ALL sub shinigami's, is rather made for Ichigo....or rather Ichigo's kind....the vaizards. Maybe something that is able to control him somehow. I dont know to what extent or for what reason but its a possibility.

Adding to it Ishida's concern in the manga. He seems bothered by it. As if it has some possible negative effect.

i always believed isshin was the captain of the second division because soi fong doesnt look powerful enough to be incharge of the second most powerful seat in the gotei
