Jump S.Q. is actually a not a shounen magazine. It is a universal magazine which is why it's considered a surpreme quality manga magazine. I guess this was due to boost sales up 10 fold since it looks to appeal to everyone (from boys to girls, and from typical shounen to even some seinen and gag.)
as a side note, I have biyori and Kure-nai done. I'm just waiting for Rosario to come out so I can release it all at once. Just expect an update by saturday at the most.
It wouldn't make much sense to have the same type of ToC rankings that weekly magazines have for the monthlies for the exact reason you said Indiana. Readers can keep a pulse on popularity in weeklies, but I don't know if its worthwhile to do it for monthlies.
I'm really surprised that this little but of news hasn't been posted yet.
Next week, Hiroyuki Takei (creator of Butsu Zone, Shaman King, and Jyuki Ningen Jumbor) will have a message in Weekly Shonen Jump! The section his message will be under is the "Go!Go!SQ!" which is a section about the new manga magazine, Jump SQ (released monthly starting in Nov.). His message could just be "support" for the new magazine, BUT there will be an illustration by Takei as well (as far as the orginal rumor-news says, and which I believe is confirmed somewhere on 2ch, but I haven't looked). And rule of thumb is (and even more so if it's noted in advance)...
New drawings almost always mean a new series!
And by new series, it could mean Shaman King comes back! Or it could be something new! It could be a one shot, or it could be a brand new series. Either way, it will VERY likely mean that it will be in JumpSQ and NOT Weekly Shonen Jump. This means, if it's any more than a oneshot chapter, it will be monthly chapter releases.
So, I'd like to annouce at this time, or just re-confirm, if Takei releases anything in JumpSQ (oneshot, SK, or something new), Mankin-Trad ( http://mankin-trad.net ) will try it's hardest to scanlate what ever it is.
Nouvelle : Masanori Morita (Rookies) x Takeshi Obata (Death Note) / Hello Baby / Shûeisha, Jump Square #12 (02/11)
C'est l'histoire d'un truand qui habite dans une certaine ville à qui on ordonne de tuer le boss des Yakuza. (English trans: It's the story of a gangster in a certain city that was ordered to kill the boss of the Yakuza.
Hello everybody! For those who don't know me, I'm a freelance raw provider that goes by the name of Asakura. I am also the founder and leader of Ossu, home of the Mx0 series. Today, i 'm going to talk about a new magazine that will hit stores in November. This new magazine is called Jump Square.
For those who don't know the story behind the becoming of this magazine, it all started back in Feburary. Shueisha decided to cease Monthly Jump magazine due to its extremely poor sales. They had just recently ceased it earlier this year in June. During the Feb.-June period, they announced that Monthly Jump will be replaced by a more powerful magazine. An S.Q. (Supreme Quality) Manga magazine. :P
So that's basically the jist of it. Although recently, I've been thinking alot about it. I honestly used to buy Monthly Jump ever since my most favorite mangaka, Hiroyuki Asada (Creator of I'll -Generation Basket-, if you never heard of this series then go visit mangascreener, they scanlated it.) started new publication of his new series "Tegami Bachi" A.K.A. "Letter Bee." Ever since the day Tegami Bachi started, i had my eyes on it and made sure i'd scanlate it. It would've also been released by the group that's helping me scanlate the series (won't tell which scanlation group that is yet :P) if it weren't for the publication cease scare.
Anyway, enough about that. The reason I have started this thread is, since it'll replace my Monthly Jump purchases anyway, i'd like to pick up this little project of providing raws of all these series located in this magazine every month when the time comes. I will also include coverage of all the chapters and one-shots of their respective Jump^2 series leading up to the November release. We'll start with this week's previews/chapters. Now, to keep myself from talking anymore, below you'll see an MH WSJ raw dump style of Jump^2:
