Well hopefully it brings members that dont only wanna leech of this site...Casue some of you might think that was a good thing to get featured, dont get me wrong it is, but its gonna bring a lot more leechers.

We need to think at it this way, EVERYONE came from leeches XD Ooops... That came out wrong... EVERYONE was leeches... err... nvm... the point being leeching mangas off the Net is the first step in the slippery slope of scanlatordom! XD HAHA

Besides, MH doesn't really host anything, so we're not doing anything "illegal" per say :P Anyways, the only people that would suffer is the hosting sites we use to host up the releases since they'll be hammered more... >_>

I think it is cool to get the nod if it brings new active members but if it brings legal issues, it will suck. I will hope for the first option and not the second.

While it is cool that MH has become so famous, it will eventually bring legal actions if we get too much attention ^^;

Let's just hope that it doesn't go any farther than this. I don't think Japan minds that we're spreading their mangas to other countries, as it helps them do more overseas business, but at the same time if their countrymen gets involved with leeching too much, they will get annoyed as that means declining local profits for them.

So as for "new members," actually, we may have to actually ban Japanese IPs just to ensure the site's survival >.> (And not risk angering their companies.)

We'll see, though. It all depends.

That's obviously not our first choice. One of the last things we want to do is not allow people from Japan to join this site. Lots of our translators are there.

We've never really gotten our RAWs directly from any Japanese members, though. Rather we've had "middle men" that found the RAWs elsewhere on the internet that the Japanese community posts.

The Touch, for example, who provided most of our RAWs the first year, is actually Australian. Dyroness, who helped with RAWs for us at the very beginning of MH's existence (and at Naruto Forums as well), is a girl from Brazil. Most of our current RAW providers here right now, I couldn't name one from Japan.

Even the majority of our translators, even the ones who happen to be in Japan right now, are definitely not Japanese. Still, it's because of the translators who do spend time in Japan that we don't really want to ban the IPs in the first place, as Zinny already mentioned. Let's hope it doesn't come to that at all.

I guess I should mention here that I don't think anybody needs to be too alarmed about it right now. It's just one page's coverage within a magazine right now.

I just wanted everybody to be aware that this may not be necessarily a good thing for us as far as getting more members from Japan. We want MH to continue being relatively inconspicuous in the large scale of things

Maybe if we actually understood what the article says then we can make better assumptions. And yes some websites had to ban Japanese IPs after thousands of Japan based downloads of raws took place but like GK said it's too early to take about such thing now and hopefully this won't happen here.

I dunno, aren't we technically safe? None of the RAWs or scans are actually hosted here, and I think the artwork counts as original enough that we wouldn't be in trouble for them.

Yeah, this kind of thing is exactly why we decided to stop hosting RAWs two summers ago, so you guys are likely right - we aren't in any immediate danger because of that.
