Re: Tousen's real sword and Ichigo's step up

Ah, don't we just love it when despite all evidence and explanation to the contrary, the thread is just plowed along by rampant fanboyism? And now this same fanboyism stands charged with the heinous forum crime of dredging up old threads.

In short, which I believe we covered sufficiently within the original lifespan of this thread, while it cannot be completely proved to the contrary that Tousen doesn't have another zanpakuto, there is no real evidence to suggest that he would have another. The burden of proof here lies on the pundent of the claim, not the respondents.

We've been shown a single page within a chapter about Tousen's past in which he takes up his dead friend's sword. Now, the only way this would remain the friend's sword after death, is if the sword itself possessed the the spirit, rather than the sword being the physical manifestation of the owner's shinigami power. The spectral manifestation of this would be the avatar within the shinigami's inner world. In short, the owner of a sword has to be alive for the sword to retain the characteristics unique to their abilities.

As i've said before, it's utter fanboyism to just put aside the set of facts we've been given in favor of the agenda for a character's development as an obvious fan of the character sees it. Not unlike the people that pair together characters to try and justify a developing relationship between them, any desire for an alternative agenda towards the implied mandate of the manga belongs in fan-fiction. Sorry if i'm snappy about this, but last time we posted here, you basically ignored any evidence to the contrary of your theory. Let zombie threads die in peace.
