    Size of Konoha Clans...

This is a random thought I've just had, and it's not particularly important. Pertaining to clans such as the Nara, Akimichi, or Inuzuka, I've been wondering; how big are these clans supposed to be? I always thought clans were supposed to consist of many members (lots of cousins, elders, etc.) as is the case with the Hyuga (and in the past, the Uchiha). Yet, with the non-bloodline clans, we are only shown a few members of each clan, with no sign (at all) of other members (and if I remember correctly, both the Nara and Inuzuka households were shown on separate occasions, and they certainly did not look large enough to house entire clans). I mean, does that even warrant being called a clan if there are so few members?

You are wrong when you use the word clan. Well a clan can be a family too, but also can be a group of people united by some kind of affinity.

The numbers doesn't really matter, if you remember the clan Uchiha, was dying because their number were decreasing, even before Itachi killed them all. However the original mean of the word in gaelic is: Tribe or Family. So the number's doesn't matter at all.

I'd speculate that the Nara, Inuzaka, and Akimichi clans aren't all that big, each consisting of immediate families and perhaps some of the extended family. It's hard to guess because not much has been revealed about these clans compared to the Hyuga and Uchiha. I am pretty sure they are smaller than the Hyuga is and the Uchiha was, only because the Inuzuka, Akimichi and Nara clans receive so little attention in the manga (any coverage in the manga is pretty much exclusive to the immediate family of the secondary/main character having the flashback).
