    Vizard vs. Vaizard

I was wondering why it is that most people write "vaizard" rather than "vizard." Kubo often writes using words from other languages, and "vizard" is actually an archaic word that means a mask or visor (link). The most common explanation that I've seen is that "vaizard is how it's pronounced." But the Japanese pronunciation would actually be vaizado. So which spelling do you think is correct?

Viz uses "Vizard." We don't really have anything else to go on in this case, so I'm gonna go with them.

I've heard some people say it should be "Visored", but I really like the way the word "Vizard" looks, so I'm going with Vizard.

I don't know which one is the correct one. But wikipedia says that the correct name is Vizards. But I prefer Vaizards because it is sounds cool.

I do agree that it should be Vizard. This thread is mostly to see why people use certain spellings.

Haha, I guess it does look better than visored. Visored is also an adjective while vizard is a noun. But I guess arrancar is a verb, so that probably doesn't matter much.

That's only if you pay attention to Spanish, and here in this country, we don't like to listen to no gol-dang Spanish.

Er, actually, they don't use バ (ba), they use ヴァ (va).

It's vaizaado, but it's based on the English word Vizard, just as arankaru is based on the Spanish verb meaning to rip off, Arrancar.

    Re: Vizard vs. Vaizard

Hehe. I too use the Vizard due to the translations meaning making more sense as visored or masked than that of vaizard. I think the vaizard spelling has probably become popular as dattebayo subs use it.

Although, perhaps viz uses vizard because half the word is comprised of their name! :O Subliminally associating manga and viz the anime company! CONSPIRACY! :O

Hehhehe....i seriously doubt that, but i find it mildly funny anyway.

    Haha, me too!

Plus when I see Vizard makes me think of Lizards, so yeah.

    Vaizards gets my vote

Placed on the u, I know, it gives it a "v" sound, allowing the addition of smaller a-line characters, in the same way that kana te plus small kana i makes "ti".

That's basically what I'd go by. That and the archaic definition settles it for me.
