Using Special Toilets for Handicap people

    Will you do it?
How ethical is it for you do to it?
Have you done it before? All the time? Just once?
What do you think of the people who use them?

Meh, I will if it is the only one open. If I have to pee, I have to pee :/ Nothing holds me back >____> I don't really see anything wrong with using a handicapped bathroom, unless there's a handicapped person waiting to use it. I think it's also useful for women with children that she has to take in with her. More space XD.

I'll use it if it's not occupied, which it usually isn't. I mean, there's not that big a chance that a handicapped person will need to use the lavatory whilst I am occupying it

Re: Using Special Toilets for Handicap people

this is a random thread any particular reason for starting it?

i do use the handicapped stall on occasion, but i would never use it if there was a handicapped person waiting. i have to believe that any decent person would do the same thing. if it's an emergency situation, though, it's every man/woman for themself!

Re: Using Special Toilets for Handicap people

This issue have been bugging me for weeks.

I stay in the library almost 5 hours a day and everytime I go to the restroom, I will think, "Hmmm.. should I use the bigger one?" A lot of times, I see people using those special toilets and I wonder also, "Isn't it reserved for the handicap?"

So to answer your question, staying in the library for too long is the reason why I post this up.

As for myself, I will not use it. It's weird that I have such strong feeling against it but I just think that I never know when someone might need to use it and because of me, she has to wait a little bit longer simply because she only has one place to go to while I, on the other hand, can choose other places to go to. >__>

I think an egoistic person will say "Ya" while an utilitarian will say "No" and an altruistic person will just go with the flow.

I have to say that from my visit to US so far, their sanitary aspect had been one of the best if not the best. In US, you can drink from the pipe without having to filter it first. You can't do that in most of other countries.

The restrooms are almost always clean and fully-equipped with essential sanitary stuff. Most of them come with automatic flush too and I still can't figure how that thing works.

actually, i think i've read that the first stall is usually the cleanest because it is used the least. people often bypass it or just want to be farther away from the door

Hmm... I never even think about using it. I mean, there must be somewhere appropriate, why use the one reserved for people with handicap.

i voted yes since the handicapped people in my country don't really go out much...i mean, honestly. the general public still discriminate against handicapped people(to some extent), sad but true...

Re: Using Special Toilets for Handicap people

Well I've done it before..and in no situation has a handicapped person magically appearred and needed to use the toilet while i'm in occupation.. no its not my first choice but if there is nothing else open then i'm up for it.. I dont see a problem with it at all.

I don´t think so, if there are 200 people waiting and nobody is hanicapped, an utilitarian will use the second toilet for sure.

I think if someone has to pee, he can use every toilet, which is available. ( exept those for the other gender)

Furthermore I don´t think you are a bad person if a handicapped person have to wait. If someone have only one arm or something like that, I don´t think he needs special treatment, if he wants to go to the toilet. He can wait like all the others.

I haven´t used those toilets, because it never comes to my mind.

Re: Using Special Toilets for Handicap people

I don't think it's unethecal, but I don't usually use the Handicap Stall for different reasons.

See, since most people choose the Handicap Stall, it should therefore be the dirtiest, so I use the Stall furthest from it all the time. But damn, the Handicap Stall is great when I have to use it.
