compared to birds' voices.
Picture 2: When Kakashi uses it, "Chidori" is known as "Raikiri".
By activating the body, a great amount of chakra is brought forth and
concentrated into one arm. Furthermore, by running a long distance, this turns
into a high-speed stab of destructive power!! The movement is a mere stab, but
this great technique boasts such large power that it was able to open a hole in
Gaara's sand defence.

Pazuzu, is the page this one?
No, that's Chidori. Raikiri is page 225.
Thanks. Added the page.
I was confused by why there was a page on Raikiri and a page on Chidori. Aren't they essentially the same technique? I thought that when Kakashi used the Raikiri, it gave a "chicchicchi" noise as well.
I'm trying to scanlate Databook - Chidori and here is the result....
Good work, Syazx ^^
Raikiri page that I edited... pls comment my work....
Good work, Syazx. Added the image.
Thanks, Pazuzu and Syazx. Paz, is there any explanation why chidori is called raikiri when Kakashi used it?
I asked the same question in the Raikiri thread, heh.
I see. I know that chidori means a thousand bird or something like that and raikiri means lighning edge. Well if it is just the same thing, they should have just name them the same name instead of naming this jutsu for so many names.
I don't remember what episode/chapter, but sometime during the Chuunin exams I remember Gai explaining this. He says something along the lines of: Its true name is Raikiri (Lightning Edge), but it's nickname is Chidori (One Thousand Birds). I also cannot remember if this was in both the manga and the anime or just the anime... I remember the anime clearly, but I cannot remember the frames of the manga so... Either way, I think Chidori is a nickname he gave it to enhance the move so not only would we think of lightning in the palm of his hand but also the sound of a thousand birds chirping to go along with it... Just his way of appealing to our senses and being a generally great storyteller. Just my 2 cents...
Raikiri ( lightning edge ) is the name, because the attack is said to be used once to 'cut lightning' or is said to be able to or something, and because you hear 'chi chi chi' ( a bird, or the sound they make or something like that...) while powering it up, it got 'chidori' ( a thousand birds ) as a nickname...
it's the other way around lol. Chidori is the true name and Raikiri is the alias given it when Kakashi allegedly cut a bolt of lightning with the jutsu
