    Re: The NFL Thread

Didn't get a chance to watch the game, but saw some of the highlights. It's so like Cutler to make bad decisions and bad throws..not surprised by the result.

ALRIGHT! SUNDAY PICKS! I'll let someone else go first this week
My comic suggestions: Ecchi, Martial Arts, Historical, Harem, Adventure!

^ I heart listening to talk radio sometimes. A week ago they were all like Ravens were going to cream the love juice out of the Eagles. Now they're like Raven's aren't so tough.

    Re: The NFL Thread

My (probably wrong) picks for this weekend:
    1. Kansas City at Buffalo
    2. Cleveland at Cincinnati
    3. Minnesota at Indianapolis
    4. New Orleans at Carolina
    5. Houston at Jacksonville
    6. Oakland at Miami
    7. Arizona at New England
    8. Tampa Bay at New York Giants
    9. Baltimore at Philadelphia
    10. Washington at St. Louis
    11. Dallas at Seattle
    12. New York Jets at Pittsburgh
    13. Tennessee at San Diego
    14. Detroit at San Fransisco
    15. Denver at Atlanta
Only so much can be learned from week one, thus my lack of non-RGIII related comments. I do regret my prediction that San Fransisco will regress. They looked amazing against Green Bay. Baltimore and New England also looked potentially dominant; before getting to excited I would like to see how they compete against better opponents. Cincinnati and Tennessee are not horrible, they simply look mediocre and nothing more. Miami looked truly wretched, and I don't expect better from them this week. Potentially the worst team in football. I expect the Dolphins and Browns to compete for that honor. Cleveland looked horrible last week. It is never a good sign when your 28 year old rookie, first round quarterback becomes trapped in the American flag pregame, before throwing a 5.1 QBR stinker in his debut.

Even though it looks bad for us based on the first game - I'm still hoping to see Vick pull a miracle.
Stranger things have happened so its not like theres no chance for a win.

Though it's never good when your QB throws 4 picks but it's not the end of the world. Roethelsburger and Flacco have both done it. Payton Manning threw 6 of them once!

There is a ton of talent on the Eagles and, though I'm no Eagles fan, I expect them to look loads better than they did against the Brownies. Sure, the Ravens are a strong team but beating up on the Bungles with a brand new offensive scheme isn't exactly a mountainous achievement. The Eagles will know what to expect and have had all week to figure out a way to try and defend it.

Plus, the lawfirm put up 5.1 yards a carry on the Ravens run defense (and not all that was garbage time) so you gotta like what that could mean for McCoy; and a successful run game would take a ton of pressure off Vick.

You're picking the Redskins to lose to the Rams, Gary? It is a road game, but it's the freaking Rams.

Rams defense is young, but might have good potential. It's a reach, but oh well

    Re: The NFL Thread

Weekly picks, huh, I kind of like this:

    ARI vs NE
    BAL vs PHI
    CLE vs CIN
    HOU vs JAC
    KC vs BUF
    MIN vs IND
    NO vs CAR
    OAK vs MIA
    TB vs NYG
    DAL vs SEA
    WAS vs STL
    TEBOW vs PIT
    TEN vs SD
    DET vs SF
    DEN vs ATL

First there is some homerism in 2 of these picks, and second, unless money is on the line, I can't bring myself to pick the Saints for anything.

The smart money might be on the Skins, but I'm gonna need to see 'em in more than one game before I start to believe these Skins are any different than the years before (i.e. terrible )

Four picks against an awful Browns team is a little scary. Vick was not the entire problem either. The Browns had no answer for Lesean Mccoy, despite this, and Vicks struggles, Reid failed to feature him down the stretch. The same game plan against this Ravens team could be a recipe for disaster.

The Rams were even worse last year than the Redskins

The Rams were 2-14 last year. They did not exactly impress in last weeks loss to Detroit, their offense looked mediocre, at best. This week they will be playing without LT Roger Saffold, anchor of an unimpressive line. The Redskins front seven has never been in question, even last year they impressed. The Rams do have a good, young defense. Unlike the Saints, they will not be giving up 40 points. But the Skins are not playing Drew Brees this week, they won't need 40 points to win, unless the Rams offense can show more than it did last week.

I play pick'em in a local group so I just went first blush and with my gut this week. For some reason I think the Redskins could lose.

The Browns defense is nothing to scoff at. It's their offense that makes them look terrible because they are on the field all day long.

No question Vick did not play a good game and that Andy Reid didn't make the midgame adjustments he needed to. But part of that might have just been the Eagles coaching staff underestimating the Browns. Maybe they just thought they could throw Vick at them with minimal game planning and win on pure talent (which they ultimately did, even though it was ugly). The Ravens are a team they will know to take seriously; so it's hard for me to imagine they will lay another egg this week.

And as cool as the no huddle offense is, Eagles have a solid defense and shouldn't be as caught off guard as the Bengals were. So I'd be stunned if Flacco was able to throw at will like he did last week.
