Domu - A Child's Dream by Otomo Katsuhiro

    Title: Domu - A Child's Dream
    Genres: Supernatural/Horror
    Author: Otomo Katsuhiro
    Artist: Otomo Katsuhiro
    Publication: Futabasha
    Start Date: 1980
    End Date: 1981
Number of chapters at review: One
Number of chapters read by reviewer: Graphic Novel (Dark Horse)

General Overview: [Blurb] A twisted old man, gifted with extrasensory powers, holds silent sway over an entire block of apartments, its occupants puppets for him to control. Life is his to give... and to take. But suddenly there is a new voice in his head, and before he knows it, a young girl with her own battery of psychic abilities arrives to challenge him.

    Category Ratings: (1-10 scale)

Art: 7 The artworks is quiet realistic; it doesn't contain the clean lines and 'pretty' people of some current manga but is 'scratchy' with detailed and proportional backgrounds.

Plot: 7 A little girl instigating revenge on the one causing so much pain and death. (Normally a six but bearing in mind the time of release.)

Characters: 8 The characters are developed, diverse and realistic.

Themes: 7 Helping those in need, standing up against those that inflict suffering and consequences for your actions. Being held accountable for what you have done (good/bad/circumstantial) is the main theme through out the story.

Originality: 9 For the time this manga really stood out - not as much as Akira which followed it. Bearing this in mind it is quite original and edgy.

    Overall: 8 Highly enjoyable.

Good review, but I think you should change the "General Overview", it reveals too much of the plot for who hasn't already read the manga.

Unconsciousness is my destiny, my joy but also my desperation.

Yeah, but it's the blurb on the back of the graphic novel. If I have it, I always use it.
