Do You Get Flak For Being A Fan of Anime/Manga?

I don't get any crap....I was lucky that most of my friends and classmates also watched animes like Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon or Captain Tsubasa. And the local cable only had one "cool" channel: Locomotion (any other latin guy should know it well)...it just PWNT the rest of the channels. It was all about +13 animation, from South Park, The Critic, Ren & Stimpy, Evangelion, Soul Hunter to Those who hunt elves, Saber Marionette J and lotsa OVAS and movies (I remember watching "Macross: Do you remember love?", "Akira" and "Mononoke Hime" in a single day)
My family never gave me weird looks or comments....heck, they were the ones who kept on bringing stuff! My grandpas would send me Dragon Ball's tankoubons from Buenos Aires, my uncle would return from a long trip and go like "guess what I found"...and there it was: Saint Seiya's 28th tankoubon in italian
Still, I'm not that otaku...maybe that's why I don't have to put up with unnecesary sh#t

hmm, well im not much of a sleeping-at-night kinda person, anyway. i usually sleep during classes. one day, my french teacer called my mom and told her that all i do during class is "sleeping or talking and nothing else." my mom got pissed again and blamed it all on manga...

Ah, miyavi-chan.. this reminds me of a girl from LJ whom I know. She tends to be sleepy in school, too.
Anyway... I often draw pictures of my fav anime/manga-charas during the lessons. Luckily, almost all my teachers doesn't notice or care. It's a great activity to survive a boring bio lesson. Though, there is one teacher who actually wanted to have a picture drawn by me before I graduate. It's the same teacher who gave three X:1999-manga to me all of sudden as present.

sameee, i always doodle characs, too!!! i usually draw setsuna (from g00 not negima) and lelouch and suzaku . and i color them in art class lol.

i love anime and manga.... buh dont have any1 in RL to discusss it with.... my friday nights are pretty much coming back form the club at around 3 and watching episodes of something til 7 in the morning on anime media... none of my friends are into anime and stuff so i come here to talk about it with ppl around the world

I don't have many people to talk about Anime/Manga in reality, too.
My two best friends are also into anime but one of them rather watches J-Drama than anime and the other one is not as up-to-date as I am. So, I can talk with them but it's rather a one-sided discussion. XD

they actually did but nahh, my parents are fine. they are just sick of me watching/reading manga and anime 24/7. and it wasnt just that night that i stayed up. it was almost the whole week. so i kinda understand that they were pissed lol. but still, i really dont give a fuck about them so we are good lol

You're reading. They can be glad that you are none of these typical girls which are drinking alcohol en masse, take drugs, smoke and are already pregnant.

Yeh stay the f*ck away (sorry) from the alcohol, drugging, smoking "cool parties" and such.
Believe me.

You will get "used", you wont have fun, it'll affect you in every bad way there is. Your reputation is better as a manga reader than a.. well whatever you call the girls that are doing the kind of things that "teh magier" is writing (cool if i call u that?).

It's more attractive with more innocent girls when you get older. Girls who start to party and drunk and y'know, they develop this attitude which in the end noone likes.

Also, drawing "manga" chars is easy and soooo much fun!

I'm often drawing a manga char that i've cleverly named "Adam" (my name) and one of the teachers from SA (south africa) that came here over the exchange project liked it a lot and took like all of my pictures with her home to show the students there.

Was both flattering... and weird in one way

reading is a good way to develop better writing and language skills, tell that to your parents!
