    Re: Macross Frontier

Reviving this thread from the depths of the Retro Theatre~

So, I just watched the second movie - Sayonara no Tsubasa (Wings of Goodbye). First thing I've got to say is damn, the animation is astounding! It was really fluid, and it wasn't just for a few scenes. It was throughout the entire film. Of course, they probably poured even more money into the important scenes like the battle scenes and when Sheryl/Ranka were on stage. The songs this time were pretty meh, though imo better than Itsuwari no Utahime. I still liked it best when they sang the old songs from the main Macross Frontier series. It was, however, pretty interesting when Sheryl did a super slow rendition of Northern Cross. I didn't recognize it at first, though I found the lyrics familiar, and only realized it was Northern Cross before she began the second line. Nicely done

Plot-wise, once again it was interesting to see what they changed from the original series - President Glass' daughter was no longer betrothed to Mishima, for example. The ending of the movie was interesting too. Those who didn't have their eyes wide open would have been like

But yeah, interesting end. Another thing to note was that Alto made up his mind, like finally
