Well, it turns out Death Note is going to be made into two live action movies. You can read more about this here:
This sounds interesting to me and I can't wait to see them.Originally Posted by oceanizer

Don't worry, somebody will.
I'm sure it will be great. I've always thought the premise of Death Note would have made a compelling script for a live-action movie, so I'm not surprised at all to see this happen.
Now for casting news and so on.
I wonder... how much production work will this thing have in it? It has the potential to be really cool, but I have a feeling it's going to fall flat
Here is an official site: http://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/deathnote/
Someone told me you can see a trailer if you click on the tv but I haven't fount it yet...
Too bad that I'm no japanese I don't understand the instructions...
Well, you just click the tv and then click the button to put it on and it works for me
But it isn't a very inspiring trailer, you see Light and a flying apple and hear some weird noises...
But where is the damn #*?&"ß TV in this?
It seems that I'm just to dumb to find it in the pic....
Oh yeah, I meant to mention this: Page 94 mentioned that the leading role (Light) is Fujiwara Tatsuya, and there's apparently going to be TWO installments: the first one is in June and the second one is in October.
Don't know much about how Japanese do these movies, but I guess it's going to be kind of like Back to the Future movies (the second & third sequels done simultaeously and then released in the same year.)
Have you tried to look at a certain flatscreen black tv at the middle-right part of the room, Miso?
Oh, and you're not dumb just blind!
*apologizes and doesn't find him funny himself either...*
It looks more like a computer, it's at the far right of the screen, Misa.
Btw, yeech. They probably should have just done an animation because that doesn't look like Light at all. Heh. Drawbacks of drawing their characters like Westerners all the time, I guess...
Wow, even a ß in there! I'm very impressed! If I was hearing I bet my ears would be curling about right nowOriginally Posted by Miso
Well, Miso's german, so the ß is standard on their keyboards, i don't have a button for it....
Anyway, i like the way Light looks as a person, even if it would have been a western actor, we wouldn't have been able to get used to him very quick either... btw, did you see Misamisa!! Supercute
Arrgh...it's a computer! Why did he say it was a TV - I was so desparately searching for a TV !
Mmmhz...the trailer isn't much.
Yeah... the ß is standard.
It's a tv, really, but a flatscreen one
The trailer doesn't show anything... too bad... for those that know japanese, can you check what the names of the actors are for me (us)?
LoL, I just realized I called Miso 'Misa' in my last post. Oops.
I think I must've missed Misamisa. I'm really not expecting much from these movies at all, I wish they had gone for the anime version now.
I bet you guys anything, though, that when Death Note becomes more known over in America, Hollywood will jump at a chance to do their own version of the story too. It's a REALLY good premise for a movie, not just a manga.
True, DeathNote follows the 'realism' path, only adding some gods and the note itself, but it's quite easy to make into a movie... the only thing that would pose a problem would be HOW many chapters and what would you punt in the movie.... I assume the two movies together show the story up to chapter 60 or something? As it's the natural start of 'part 2'...
