Actually, it says in that flashback Delbi linked to that the disagreement was over how to run the village.
Of course, that story is up for change...
A good chapter, Showing how peace loving and nice Hashirama was, And surprisingly Madara was a chatty and Fun Kid... Never Saw that coming
Hey guys, don't forget that the term "brother" doesn't have to mean biological. When Madara said he had 4 brothers he could have meant his close friends. Or they were really his brothers and Izuna and him became close as brothers later. My feeling though is that Izuna is Madara's blood brother, and the 4 he referred to in this chapter were just clan mates. I'm thinking after they form the village/alliance Hashirama is forced to kill Izuna, maybe due to an Uchiha uprising, and Madara goes crazy because he lost his brother by the hands of his best friend. After all their epic battle didn't happen until after Konoha was formed, so it had to have been at some point during the creation of the village that things went wrong for both Madara and Hashirama.
maybe madara isnt talking about family? but maybe comrades? just thinking out loud
comrades in war = your "brothers"
so izuna is alive and he was just talking about some close friends who dieD?
edit: Morpheus306 beat me to it lol
Why are people trying to explain away the "four brothers" thing?
I took it as blood-relative siblings. Hashirama was lamenting the death of his actual, younger brother and asked Madara if he had siblings. If he considered four other people to be close enough to call them brothers or siblings out of love or respect or closeness, I think Madara would have all ready gone nuts because of that stupid brain-chakra deal we just learned about.
It's likely that he had several actual siblings, likely much older siblings, who he was not close with and thus did not have a strong connection with, who have died, with Izuna being the one with whom he *did* have a connection because they were likely much closer in age.
Why the need to dissect this? Does it contradict something?
We generally have to take translations with a grain of salt, Madara didn't say he had no brothers anymore, just that he *had* 4 brothers. Until I see "All of my brothers are dead" there is no retcon going on.
There are some things we have to think about for ourselves
It should be understood as such since it was stated in context where Hashirama mentions the death of his younger brother to Madara and Madara responds with the "I know the feeling" kinda look before answering Harishama's question if whether he has brothers.
ITAMA surely looks like Zetsu.....hmmm....
Something I noticed, with all the siblings those two had, you'd think there would at least be one girl. I realize that in some cases, There can be a surplus of males born into a family. However, Would it really have Hurt that much to put a female in the stack of nameless/Not so important siblings?
Just a small nitpick.
So Madara and Hashirama is no longer a straight copy of Naruto and Sasuke.
Madara is waaay more chatty than Sasuke and Hashirama is obviously more wise beyond his years than Naruto will ever be. There are some parallels to be drawn between this young Hashirama and the young Itachi (wise beyond their years, both of them and both of them saw the "bigger picture").
I liked this chapter.
MORE OF THE SAME PLEASE!
Btw: Observe how Madara lost 4 people whom he considered his "brothers" and has not gone batshit crazy, screaming monosyllabic caveman verses of torment and agony that do not, in any way shape or form fit the occasion or the travesty in question (Unlike ).
i love hashirama as a kid, he is strong as hell and funny while madara is strong but prideful that hashirama got beaten him at throwing rocks, my love for the old generation get stronger each time, this old farts that they don't have a big spot light, it makes the manga better...old generation are the best so far..
I had the same thought about Itama being Zetsu. It would explain why his jutsu is plant-based. I also kind of thought Hashirama sounded like Zetsu when he was first talking to Madara. The way the dialogue bubbles were different looking, it almost looked like Hashirama was speaking in two types of voices. It could just be the translator though. I have been waiting for a Zetsu explanation for a while.
Side question: Wasn't Zetsu in Obito's backstory when he was will (old) Madara? He only had the white side though. Where did the "Black Zetsu" come from??
This is the first time I've posted here in like a year.
Been reading post the whole time though!
Havent even finished reading the chapter (page 3) and already loving these two more than any character (yes, even Superman and SV Lex). Theyre interaction is just superb.
Hope the rest of the chapter is just as good.
Edit: As predicted, superb chapter, borderline perfect. Kishi you have restored my faith in the Manga (until we switch back to the war and il go on a frenzy)
