When I'm alone I talk to myself, mostly in foreign languages and with multiple personalites.
I confess we're the same here. Considering past experiences with people, I think that everyone, especially good friends, are expendable and can be replaced.
I also confess I place loyalty extremely high. I'm very loyal to friends and will be there for them, but if they aren't that loyal, then I stop wasting my time.
Ouch. Just don't leave ridiculous soulful walls of text in her email. I think you'll be fine.
I confess it sucks that, right after I get into a happy programming/studying mode, I suddenly get a text from home of "your brother and mom got into a fight" (implicit message: fix the conflict or everything will end badly). Jesus, this is why I spend a good portion of studying time watching youtube comedies! Because when these little stink bombs show up in my day, it makes it blatantly impossible to do my job or schoolwork! Argh!
All types of friends are replaceable, good, great, best, all of them.. But the feelings and memories that remain, are not.
I think what he meant was that your two claims seemed to contradict themselves. You basically just said, "I will be extremely loyal to you, but I'll replace you without any problems."

And I agree that most friends are short-lived and not terribly missed, but I've had a few friends that will leave a permanent void in my life that cannot be filled.
