    Re: Suisei no Gargantia

The series introduced interesting themes and the prospect of a completely obedient soldier changing through the influence of a civilization foreign to him was appealing (even if it´s nothing new) but the anime neither managed to explore those themes satisfyingly nor did it achieve in making me care about the characters. Considering that and the superb animation, i give it a 7/10. I think the anime could have worked a lot better with a few more episodes.

    Re: Suisei no Gargantia

eh... At first it was mildly interesting- then when the later episodes unraveled, they unraveled badly. -_-

All the intelligence was thrown out the window. Pinion was an undeniably stupid and irresponsible character- Flange was the worst "leader" I had seen, who from the start, got swayed by a mere repairman to establish his own country (I understand that's what the fleets symbolize anyway)- and then the future of his fleet rests on his decisions but apparently he can't call off Pinion's stupidity like blatantly inviting everyone to war.

It's as if, war was reduced to a game at this point- Pinion had not realized he was the cause of all this- and not really Ledo. And openly firing at a fleet that requested for "negotiation" first- what?

And then when the pirate Lukkage showed up- I was pretty convinced there was no hope for this anime. >.>

The first OVA is out. It is not a throwaway special, but comparable in quality to the regular episodes. A lot of character building (plus good shipping fodder), and an interesting story. The second OVA will come out with volume three of the BD, on sale October 25. More similar to early episodes, before the incident with the whale-squid. Very hard to tell whether it takes place after the end of the series, or before Ledo fought the whale-squid.
