Re: Winter Anime 2013 Preview Guide

I was surprised to see the New York Times provide a review of episode 1 of Space Dandy. Unfortunately, it seems that it does verify my expectations for it after seeing the first nine minutes or so preview of the anime being a cringe-worthy, painful, pervy experience.

Re: Winter Anime 2013 Preview Guide

I'm skipping Pupa. I've read a few chapters of the manga, it's pretty good. But there will only be twelve episodes, five minutes long each. I'd rather marathon the entire series than wait a week for just five minutes of anime.

Wait. I thought Pupa was going to be normal length? Maybe I'll just wait until it's done and marathon it. What a shame.

Re: Winter Anime 2013 Preview Guide

I don't have enough motivation to follow all the series available this season, so I only put three new shows from the list:

    Space Dandy
    Noragami
    Chuu2 Ren

Maybe there would be a hidden gem somewhere within that list, but for the time being, I'm only watching those three shows. Oh, I am also watching Tonari-no Seki kun because I really love the manga, but since it's just a short anime, 5 minutes each episode, I guess that shouldn't count.

Witch Craft Works looks like the surprise anime of the season, for me. It was not on my list, but I saw some good reviews, and decided to watch. Episode one was very good, a nice mix of action, comedy, and school anime. A good show, one of the season's better first episodes.

Re: Winter Anime 2014 Preview Guide

Because the manga is the one that's originally good already. :P The reverse situation with the protector might not be the newest idea, but the art style is one of the best things about the series. Got to see if the adaption is just as good, I fear it will miss some of the artistic panel/art designs/choices.

My favorite this season has been Hamatora, lovely cast, excellent storytelling, and amazing visuals. Really was a surprise to see it turn out so good.

Zvezda episode 1 was certainly something else and an anime that I will stick with, I think it has a quirky cool plot going on and was fun.

Re: Winter Anime 2014 Preview Guide

My (more or less) final fall list

    Winter Anime:
    1. Chuunibyou Ren
    2. D-Frag
    3. Gin no Saji 2
    4. Hamatora
    5. Hoozuki no Reitetsu
    6. Mahou Sensou
    7. Mikakunin de Shinkoukei
    8. Nisekoi
    9. Noragami
    10. Sakura Trick
    11. Seitokai Yakuindomo*
    12. Sekai Seifuku
    13. Space Dandy
    14. Tonari no Seki-kun
    15. Witch Craft Works
    16. Wizard Barristers
    17. Wake Up Girls
    Fall Anime:
    1. Diamond Ace
    2. Golden Time
    3. Kill la Kill
    4. Nagi Asu
    5. Tokyo Ravens
    6. Yowapeda
I haven't decided whether to keep watching Hamatora. First episode was solid, nothing spectacular. I'll watch episode two before deciding. I watched two episodes of Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta and an episode of Buddy Complex. I wasn't really that interested in either. I may try them again, after they finish airing.

Re: Winter Anime 2014 Preview Guide

I added Wake Up Girls to my list. The movie and first episode were really good. I also decided to keep watching Hamatora. Episode two was pretty good, the main plot should be interesting. I'm not convinced it will be a great show, but it should at least be a good show. The potential for greatness does exist.
