Ok, so i touched on this in another thread but maybe it can have it's own since It is something that kind of needs to be explained.
A tree produces fruit for a simple reason, to get other organisms to eat it and poop the seeds out in another place in order for new trees to grow. It's actually a very smart way of ensuring that the plants can get planted in other areas as well as gaining nutrition from the manuer.
With the god tree how ever it produces a fruit, fills it with chakra and then doesn't want anyone to eat it or it's coming to kill them. Obviously the fruit wasn't ment for reproduction either since no one was supposed to eat it.
Now if this chakra was so important that it actually turned biblical and went crazy at the one that ate it, why did it even produce a chakra filled fruit to begin with?
It's not going to make more trees, the fruit is not supposed to be eaten according to the tree and it wants it's chakra.
This is like Adam and Eve, "here is a fruit, don't eat it, it's there to....not get eaten......because".
Does anyone have a theory on this? Because now it just seems like this plant is a giant douche bag.

Because it can.
If I had to give a reason, it's because it wants to test humans. In other words, wants a reason to fuck around with them.
Same answer as in the chapter thread, Kishimoto is intellectually bankrupt, therefore he has to reuse millennia old fairy tales with imaginary god's fooling around with people. Sounds dumb, is dumb, makes little sense, that's what we get after stalling a conclusion for multiple years now.
The problem wasn't even a human eating it, as it had enough power to create the Senju/Jiuubi [without a jinchuuriki] we can see in these chapters or did I get it wrong. It was just angry for losing a seed, which happened to rot anyway if not used. Or did that stop the Shinju from exisiting, did it start to rot somehow for no explainable reason. Is it nature incarnate after all, was it made that now humans beside demons could use chakra?
Ah, it's so annoying when mangaka try to be pseudophilosophical.

I'm guessing the seed or fruit somehow had power that it didn't want humans to get, probably because there'd be violence or more violence.
this is like... one of the oldest stories of human society - adam and eve anyone? forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge? its not like kishi is just making this up out of nowhere.
Because Kishi had to think of something, and when he realised he was incapable of such a thing, he just referred to any source of literature that could even remotely fit. However, as you point out, a sentient tree growing a fruit and then getting angry when someone touches it is pretty ridiculous.
To be honest, I'm still baffled about how so many have now come to utilise chakra so effectively. If the princess was the first, and presumably only individual to eat the fruit, considering that the Juubi was split up by her son long before another millennium would allow for the appearance of another fruit, how is it that the world is populated by individuals capable of utilising chakra. The possibilities are that every single shinobi is a descendant of the Sage, which is obviously ridiculous. Or, alternatively, everyone else just figured out how to utilise chakra on their own. Although, Madara comments that all chakra was the tree's, so? It just seems a bit dodgy. And if the Juubi wishes to mete out his revenge fairly, he should target direct descendants of the sage, although it appears that, for the most part, these individuals have been wiped out by other shinobi or Kishi; see Uchiha, Uzumaki, and the pretty much non-existent Senju.
What I want to know is, how the fuck does a tree have feelings in the first place? And how did it create stuff? Why would the Kyuubi say the Juubi was the progenitor or whatever? Does Kishi even remember what he ate the previous day?
Y'all better not tell me even trees have feelings.
Impossibility: They would only have to marry/breed with someone with chakra to create someone with chakra. It really takes only a couple centuries to populate all the known countries in the Narutoverse. After a century you could easily have 32 or even 64 descendents, when it's only doubled. In our real world the population has easily doubled or trippled over one century or another.

In the story of Genesis, Adam and Eve ate a fruit that gave them knowledge. It could simply be that the Shinju fruit gave people the knowledge to use chakra on top of the fact that Kaguya gained a super-powered Sage body.
In other words, they don't need to have seen that chakra from her. People should have always had the potential to use chakra, but just not the knowledge.
As for the topic, I think the Shinju is a metaphor for nature being pure until humanity gets their hands on it, fucking everything up. Another way to look at it is that the Shinju's fruit was a test for humanity. One they failed.

Yeah, wasn't the first time we heard about Rikudo mentioned that he was the one who thought the people of the ways of chakra and it's usage. It would explain why only the Senju/Uzumaki and Uchicha has such clear lineage to his two sons. Kaguya could very well have lived within the current fire country.
Hm so could the conflict end with those two clans dying out? Or would all chakra using beings have to die to please the Shinju? What a power mongering monster. :'(Originally Posted by naruto.wikia

Still, if it is Adam an Eve, god was petty, and he didn't want them to find out a lot of things were bullshit. What does a tree have to gain? I just can't find any kind of sense here.
Its a weird development considering that so far the jubi itself does not have a consciousness of its own. If the jubi was conscious it would be one thing however right now it kinda seems like it is driven by instinct to absorb chakra. Perhaps the issue here is that the fruit itself was not meant to be consumed at all and its purpose was different. Kurama mentioned the jubi created the land and whatnot so perhaps the function of the fruit is to spread life itself rather than to be consumed by beings originated from it. So the fruit itself must have had quite a bit of power if its function was of that nature. By eating the fruit lesser beings have the option to get its powers but that in turn is a perversion of the actual purpose of the fruit.
And now we have a more complicated matter to that should bd solvwd while hero of story couldn't give a damn simple ANSWER to Nagato and itachi .....
Kishi forgets that his main character is not enough complicated and matured to face this matter ...
And honestly , for me this is a bad story line .,.. Maybe for japaness rezder it is a new thing but for most of us it has no value ....
Any way in our version of genessis story , it was a test nothing more nothing less .... God wanted to prove our father and mother that all of their childern are not worthy to live in heaven , so he make a simple test for them , they could use all of heaven things except one thing The Forbiden Fruit .... God show our father and mother his greatness and create them from nothing and teach our father the knowledge of world and put rhem above all angles and give them a place in heaven and in exchage ask them to not eat that fruit and warned them that Satan want to fool them but ...
One they satan sneaked in heaven and changed himself to a wise old man and went to see Adam and Hava and tried to fool them to eat the forbiden fruit to gain greater knowledege , power and imortality .
Adam refused it and said God forbade it , Satan understand that he can not fool Adam , so he used the inly weakness that Adam had , Hava , and he fooled she ...
Hava told Adam to they should eat this furbiden fruit , Adam refused , but Hava insist on his request and in the end , she told Adam ,that she will eat the fruit and id something bad not happen , he can eat it as well and our father get fooled ....
Hava ate tje fruit and nothing ha'en bit the moment Adam ate it , they failed the only test ... And Satan get happy ....
For first punishment , their heavenly clothes dissapeared and they get ashemed and forced to cover themselves with the grasses and after that God blamed them for getting fooled by satan _ their enemy who in front of Adam and Hava promissed that he will do anything to fool them _ and didn't trust to God words and defy his order ....
and God ordered to kick them out from heaven ....
Our father and mother cried for 300 years and ask God to forgive them and after 300 years , God forgive them but send them to earth and said only whoare goods can goes to heaven after death , for bad human , hell is ready ....
And the test for Adam and Hava and their childern - in this era, we - begun ....
shafagh, of course most of us are familiar with Old Testament, it's pretty much the same in every judeo-christian religion - yes, that includes Islam. Same legend, different interpretations.
The question is why did god create the tree, and by proxy, the fruit of knowledge.
Here in Naruto, it's even more ridiculous, because the tree itself is a god, and there's no satan.
