If this option were not avaliable at first they will put it sooner or later with a good acceptance of the public, or the old chapters will be distributed in volumes since the beggining, they just didn't say it directly.

Wow this is such a smart move by Crunchyroll. I definitely want to pick up Yamada-kun, maybe I'll pick up another title as well.

Of course, the biggest problem I have with Crunchroll's anime is that not all titles are available in all countries. So I can watch Gintama and Attack on Titan, but I can't watch Magi, which is a shame. I hope they rectify this if their e-manga endeavor turns out successful. I think it will though because 5 dollars a month sounds pretty good.

Kodansha has already been cracking down on scanlations, at least for their big titles. English scanlations of Shingeki and FT were taken down from Batoto some time ago. Lesser known titles have not been effected. Yozakura is still available, for example.

If they add Yozakura Quartet, I'd think about signing up.

I think it has to do more with Mangastream's policy than Kodansha's...

Anime has the problem of multiples studios, it requires many negotiations and there are others streaming services competing, so not always Crunchyroll manage to get all animes, but I think it is different now. Seems that they made a agreement with Kodansha, problaby an agreement of exclusivity in these countries to distribute digitally Kodansha series. Most of these countries don't have this service with the local publishers, so I don't see any impediment.

This agreement is beneficial to Kodansha, they won't need to enter in these markets with a new mark and technology. They will use Chruchyroll, a popular mark already, and its servers to host your mangas, not being neccesary to install their own servers.

It has nothing to do with MS. MS is not the only group to scanlate those series. They did not start scanlating SnK until earlier this year. They did not even exist when the first Fairy Tail scanlations started. Batoto took down SnK chapters scanlated by GWR and TDX, and FT chapters scanlated by Kefi and whoever else scanlated before MS. GWR and TDX used Batoto as their official online reader, they were posted with consent, as are all chapters at Batoto. Batoto never had MS chapter posted to take down, MS never has given consent.

But there's still plenty of FT and SnK chapters available in English. All the I eat manga releases from several years ago are still there and the preMS SnK stays unerased too.
So the missing chapters are the ones that never got hosted, that is to be the MS ones.

My bad, they reorganized how English and non-English are ordered. All the English translations were separated, and moved to the bottom.

Ooh, this sounds like a neat idea. Not only will it allow the fans from the 170 countries to read the chosen series, it'll be good business for Kodansha and Crunchyroll with ads from the free users and paid accounts.

Looks like two more countries join the excluded list

"Crunchyroll Manga can be accessed from any PC/Mac with an Internet connection and a web-browser, or via Crunchyroll’s iOS or Android apps. While fans in over 170 countries will be able to read Crunchyroll Manga, there are several notable exceptions: readers in France, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil will not be able to access these titles at this time."

the biggest countries besides the english one will be excluded, because they can sell the rights there, like france, spain, italy and germany.

They didn't publish yet, probably they will say October 30th.
For now they are just cutting the hope of people. Seriously, I am mad now. XD
