could the plant possibly be a sprout of a sacred tree from the fairy realm...
like king's spear is made from....
A sacred tree wouldn't look sinister. To me, it's the source of the transformation and last chapter it was hinted to be linked to demon clan

Oh Gowther, he really doesn't appear to have any motivation whatsoever, looks like he's no less quirky from the rest of the crew XD. I'm still confused as to whether he even has his sacred treasure, or if indeed that armor is his treasure, as he is just one big mystery right now.
Could be Merlin if the Author goes with the Gowther Rhyme where the two are Siblings.
It's a bit soon for another sin when we know almost nothing about Gowther.
Good, good, good. Meliodas is finally ready to kill his enemies, I guess he'll fight only super powered demons now, he killed Dale that easily...
I doubt the armor can ever be a sacred treasure, its very function stands against the notion of what a treasure is supposed to do. Gowther said the armor was enchanted so as to supress power right? Which means the armor is the opposite of a weapon. The big question here is why gowther would even have such an armor. In this case he was using it to stop the demon but the fact of the matter is that gowther had the armor well before the demon and it likely served the same function. Which means that for whatever reason gowther wore the armor to suppress his own power. But why was there a need for that? If such a detail is important it is extremely likely an alternative to the armor will have to be found so as to keep gowther's power in check.
Anyways, the plant was definitely weird and definitely not something fairy related. Ban seems to have a notion of what it was although who knows... Perhaps the actual purpose of reactors is to grow those things?
As for meliodas, he just got too strong in a second. The dawn roar were supposed to be stronger than gaera and jerico and even then they would have had trouble defeating that thing. I don't mind meliodas being that strong, I mind him having that sort of strength without even using a sacred treasure. Even king could not do that with his own sacred treasure (although meliodas did hold him back a bit but still). What will happen when meliodas does find his sacred treasure? Its like the plot is being murdered before we get to the good stuff.
As in the horror movies, in the end of this fight the evil creature has infected the good guy... yahahahahaha!

Thats a bit of a moot point though. We just saw meliodas easily surpass the power of a sacred treasure without a sacred treasure of his own and we saw him easily outclass what 4 seemingly competent holy knights would have been able to do with all their might. Of course there is going to be someone in the enemy forces against whom meliodas is going to have to struggle against but that is hardly the issue, the issue here is that virtually everyone who isn't that ultimate big bad is likely to be someone who meliodas struggled against because he held back and not because that enemy had actual power that could hold back meliodas. realistically speaking meliodas could have killed the demon with his black flame enchantment (considering what was said at least) and we saw the result of him using a seemingly decent weapon. If meliodas actually got this results from using a sacred treasure then things would be different. It would be believable that meliodas used a somewhat considerable amount of his actual power and it would be kinda believable that there are several holy knights capable of fighting him on even ground. So, while right now it is believable that certain holy knights could even go as far as defeating meliodas right now, what happens when meliodas gets his hand on his sacred treasure? Meliodas looses the need to step on the ants and he is now a merciful unreachable god who only needs an excuse to use his nation-obliterating magnifying glass.
On the other hand perhaps meliodas finally deciding to quit the whole merciful god thing to some degree will be the trigger for us to see who the big bad is. More and more the manga needs an equally godly force to match meliodas. I mean, we can't have meliodas just stepping on the ants, he could presumably do that next chapter if he felt like it. So we shouldn't really be too far away from either knowing who in the enemy side is equally godly to meliodas or has the actual means and plan to become like that. Hopefully it won't be some twin representing some good/evil duality thingy who rather than siding with the good guys sided with the demon half which he would also have within him.
I'm really not worried about Meliodas power. I agree the bad guys don't look dangerous now, but sure some bad dangerous ones will come. The prophecy talks about 'a visit' that is going to happen. Of course that could be metaphorical, but I always have had the feeling that Hendricksen is just setting up the things for the really bad bosses. Anyway, we haven't seen the most powerful demons and not even a lonely maiden/goddess.

For info, contrary to Jump, this week was a double issues for Magazine, so there won't be a chapter next Sunday.
