Title: Gintama: Kanketsu-hen - Yorozuya yo Eien Nare
Status: Aired (Jul 6, 2013)
Director: Fujita, Yoichi
Genres: Action, Comedy
What would have happened if the Shiroyasha never existed?
Edo is thrown to chaos by a mysterious cause. Sakata Gintoki, now lives in a world where the future has changed, without him. What has happened to the Yorozuya?
Gintoki, who is now a ghost of the past, must once again carry the burden in order to save his friends. He must finish the biggest job ever, which may be the final job of Yorozuya.
As good as I expected. Probably one of the best original stories based on a long-running manga/anime.
The beginning was so classic Gintama, combining an anti-piracy ad with the actual story was beyond hilarious took me around 10 minutes to figure out that the movie actually started XD
I thought the designs were amazing too. I know some people thought Shinpachi and Kagura looked a tad bit too different, but they were still the same on the inside, and it was kinda refreshing to see a new side to them too. Actually would have loved to see Kagura in that outfit for longer, hihi
The story could easily be a part of the actual manga, serious stuff mixed with absolute nonsense. Not every part of the serious stuff related to trime travel actually made sense, but that's not what I expect or need from Gintama, it still made me laugh a lot and had some nice touching moments :')
Overall I'm pretty pleased and happy how the movie turned out, couldn't have asked for more.
On another note, who was the most hilarious and/or good new design to you? I thought Okita's and Kagura's was among the best, while Elizabeth and Tama were damn hilarious. Zura taking over the role of Takasu made me laugh hard too
I came away feeling much the same about it. The way it embraced the idea that anime movies have to be self contained stories and made the most of that using time travel, was pretty cool. And I'm also amazed by the way everything pretty much made sense.
My only complaint was that it started a little slow up until about the time future Kagura and Shinpachi were introduced but once the story got there everything started moving along, the dialogue sped up, and it started to hit emotional beats. So from there it was golden.
As for who's new design I liked the best, I'd say Kagura's by a fair margin. She looked older, cooler, but also still very much like herself. Second best, I'd give to Gintoki's form that everybody else saw; that was hilarious!
The movie was great. Now i hope they'll resume the anime soon
I really cannot say more than the movie was awesome at every single level and aspect. Exactly what a Gintama arc would be like. The length was also perfect, as most serious Gintama arcs are 5 episodes (the movie being almost 2 hours = approx 5-6 episodes worth of material). Classic Gintama from start to finish. Perfect! xD I had such a blast. Perfect movie for me. Many laughs were had. 10/10. Cannot really state how awesome I thought it was x))))))
I thought pretty much everyone had excellent designs. (I've seen on the net it being pointed out shin + kagura looked like kirito + asuna from SAO, I choose to ignore that but it's also kinda true, rofl). I thought it was amazing how they managed to make both Kagura and Shinpachi reflect Gin in their future designs. Kagura was just straight up hot, wtf. My favorite easily hurr. That Elizabeth tho! I laughed so freaking hard when he appeared xD Probably most luls.
The movie was really good, with great story, comedy and actions. My favorite design would be Kagura's, I always find her to be cute but here, she's just beautiful and more stacked not to mention.
Seriously, what a great movie!
Just as good as the manga/anime.
It was both hilarious and dramatic, like only Gintama can do.
My favorite design is Kagura of course.
I already liked her previous future design in the timeskip episode, so it was nice to see something similar again.
But, Shinpachi was so freaking cool in this episode!
I always had high hopes for him, and it was nice to see that he actually has the potential to be a very great samurai.
Although, this movie would be a great finale, I really really hope they will pick up the anime again.
This is BY FAR my favorite, so I can only hope that this movie made enough money to give us more episodes...
This movie adaptation is just perfect, I couldn't ask for more.
Obviously I love Kagura's design the most, but I have to say that Okita and Elizabeth new appearances are the ones I'm astonished by. Gintama does what Gintama does best, a good balance between absurd humors, pop culture references, and touching moments. I like the plot twists too, since I was guessing the whole time why Joui war suddenly linked with the main plot of the movie.
Oh by the way, I am curious about the ending

Doraku, yes it's the same.
I admit things were a bit complicated (they always are with time travel!)
Here's the explanation about the whole time-travel thing as I understood it:
Well, you've said everything. the movie was fantastic from start to finish. I am tempted to read the manga now...
