    Blush "穴あいてるの気がつかなくて"

    Above sentence^

I'm not sure if I've translated it correctly - can someone check for me?
穴あいてるの気がつかなくて = Didn't realise there was a hole in it.

Contextually it makes sense but I'm totally lost!

    Dialogue is from:

    Thanks!

    Re: "穴あいてるの気がつかなくて"

The guy on left is trying to get back into the room (of the guy on right) to find another pair of socks. The one on right doesn't want the other guy to come in.

    R: What is it?
    L: Socks
R: Why didn't you grab them last night?
    L: (Your TL goes here.)

What part are you having a problem with? Though you don't need to add this to your translation, て in なくて means 'cause (because).

Thanks! so I wasn't a complete dodo when I thought something was wrong...

I was confused about the use of "穴" which to means "hole" but when I checked against the Chinese translation (usually the C>E translator but I've been trying to improve my Japanese lately), they translated it as "I didn't realise you were out". And this is the licensedl Taiwanese version so I was sure that I had made a mistake somehwere:

I see, no wonder you got confused.
I can't translate Chinese, but the JP txt says nothing about the guy on the right be out the night before.

Note: I didn't translate ああっ last time.

    なんで[Why]昨夜のうちに[while last night]取っとかないんだよ[didn't you take]?
    =(あなたは)、なぜ昨夜のうちに(*靴下を*)取っておかなかったのか。

JP txt does not say *what* to take in this bubble, but they are talking about socks.
I and you are often omitted in JP as you know already.
This sentence is a rhetorical question: Why didn't you ...

穴があいているの [has a hole; there is a hole] 気がつかなくて
    = (私は、)(靴下に)穴があいていることに気が付かなかったので

You could combile 靴下 and 穴あいてるの... to make them into a single sentence: 靴下、穴あいてるの気がつかなくて. Note that JP does not specify singular and plural, so a whole can also be translated as holes as well. (I probably go with a hole over holes like you did.)
