It's not off-topic. If we conclude that AnS isn't a technique to begin with, we can safely answer the thread question with no.

    It's mentioned here again:

Also, both in that instance and in the ch 118 title it's the "Divine Path of the Asura", what about that bit? Like, "Divine path of vengeance" sounds off to me.

If Asura isn't a technique, what would you categorize it to be?

^That. I don't personally agree with it, but there's nothing wrong with discussing it either.

"Shindo" is basically a fancy term consisting of the characters "Shin" for "Divine/God/Supernatural" and "Do" for "Path." The reason Konomi didn't simply call it the "Asura no Do" ("Path of the Asura") is because by itself the word "Path" commonly refers to a literal path, street, road, etc. So he had to call it the Divine Path in order to make the metaphor clear. In English it's obvious that the "Path of the Asura" isn't an actual walkway to something called Asura, but Japanese, not so much.

The same thing is present in Naruto with the different forms of Pain, the Rikudo.

Actually, we can settle this more easily than I expected. Looking at the RAW again, there are quotation marks around Asura no Shindou, which only happens for special moves.

I think that Irie was just incredibly superior and Akiba just collapsed... like Renji against Mitsuya for example.

Sure, whenever someone says his acting is terrible he uses Asura to make that person pay.

So it's a technique after all?

I thought it was a state, because the speed and spin of Tokugawa's serves changed completely after activating it.

And what if Asura is not the real thing, but part from Irie's acting

States are ¨techniques¨. In the fanbooks they are usually listed like that.

There is no official distinction between states and techniques, both are just called special moves. If you look at the fan book profiles, you will notice that stuff like Muga is also listed as a special move.

    Thanks Kaoz for clarification
