Otaku Cafe - Rules/Guidelines/Index Thread (Updated October 10, 2008)

Welcome to the new Otaku Cafe section!!!

Just to let everyone know, the Otaku Cafe is the place to discuss miscellaneous topics. Anything from anime, drama, and music to magazines, tankobon sales, favorite series, Asian culture, conventions, and cosplay! Be creative, come to discuss the topics that won't fit in specific threads.

Otaku Cafe

The following prefixes are used in the Otaku Cafe section:

* General - General information
* Culture - To be used for discussions regarding Japanese/Korean/Chinese culture (history, fairytales, recipes, school life, clothes patters, ...).
* Discussion - For more topic-related discussion threads instead of the "General" prefix which should be used for more open discussions.
* Data Mesh - Data Mesh is for global but topic-related threads that contain posts about "*everything* dealing with *one thing*", or "collective threads".


RAWs
If possible, please try not to discuss translated RAWs in too much detail in the Otaku Cafe, for more detailed discussion, please have a look down at the Manga Works Section to see if the appropriate thread is there.

Spoilers
Anything to do with spoilers or any kind of sensitive information, please put into spoiler tags, to avoid anyone being spoiled by any kind of information.

Otaku Theater

The following prefixes are used in the Otaku Theater section:

* Anime Industry - Anything relating to the anime industry
* Discussion - Discuss about your favourite characters, animes, etc.
* Drama CD - CDs related to any form of TV Drama
* Info - Thread for information
* Live Action - Live Action movies, drama, animes, etc.
* Movies - Movie discussion for anime movies, drama movies, etc.
* Otaku Goods - Goods like figurines, toys, etc.
* Request - Want to request an anime, or ask for a recommendation?
* Rumor - Any rumours you might have about any anime, drama, movies
* Season - Individual anime season, eg. Summer 2008
* Special - Any anime, drama or movie specials
* TV/OVA - General Anime discussion
* TV Drama - For your J-Dorama

Threads
Please check if there is an already existing thread for the anime, drama, movie, etc, before making one. Saves the trouble for the moderators to merge the two threads together, and saves you the time wasted on making the thread.

Prefixes
Please make sure you put in the correct prefix. If you didn't, please don't forget to edit your post, and change the prefix. Don't be alarmed if the prefix for your thread is changed, however, if the changed prefix is incorrect for the type of information in your thread, don't hesitate to PM a moderator to change it right back.

Archive
A subforum for complete animes and released movies.

* Ongoing TV/OVA Series and announced Movies...
... go into the Otaku Theater main forum.

* Complete TV/OVA Series and released Movies...
... go into the Theater Archive.

* Only one Thread per Anime!
This includes the second or third season as well. The anime counts as "ongoing" till it's officially finished. If necessary you can PM a Mod to move the thread back from the Archive to the main forum. However, sequels and specials can have their own thread but we'll merge them later into the original series/movie thread. A series with several crossover media (e.g. Death Note anime and Death Note live action movies) can have separate threads for the different media.

* Thread Title for Series/Movies Discussion Threads
The title should be short and contain the full title (e.g. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Revolution) for easier use of the search function. Moderators can add temporary additional info like "[trailer inside]" or "[promo pics!]" to raise attention - feel free to ask for it.

* Other Threads
Please keep the titles short and meaningful. Don't use cap locks - you don't need to scream.

* Prefixes
Please add the correct prefix and stay ontopic according to prefix and thread title (first post).

Prefixes for specific discussion threads:
Game, Live Action, Movie, Special, TV/OVA, TV Drama

Other Prefixes:
Request - Requests on finding anime, downloads, recommendations.
Discussion - General anime discussions.
Anime Industry - Discussions about Studios, Seiyuus, general scene topics.
Otaku Goods - Merchandise (e.g. Figures, Collectors discussions).
Season - Moderator use only (for the quarterly Anime Preview, stickied in the Theater main forum).
Info - Moderator use only (for Rules and Global Information).



Otaku Karaoke

The following prefixes are used in the Otaku Karaoke section:

* Artists - Individual threads to discuss a particular artist
* Hangout - Thread for big, all-around music discussions
* Info - Information about artists, bands, etc.
* Request - Request for some new material to listen to, or recommend new stuff for people
* Soundtrack - Soundtracks for the anime, drama, movie, etc.

Direct Downloads
Please don't post direct download links, such as Rapidshare, Mediafire and Megaupload, in any of the threads, doing so will result in your post being deleted, and a PM warning you not to do it again. Mutiple warnings can and will earn you a ban, so please don't post direct download links. Linking to a forum, however, is allowed, though the moderators will be closely monitering all links.

The following prefixes are used in the Otaku Shoten section:

* General - General Information
* Discussion - For more topic-related discussion threads instead of the "General" prefix which should be used for more open discussions.
* Mag Talk - Discussions about the different serialization magazines around
* News - Confirmed manga or anime related news. Should be reserved for announcements from a press release or some other official announcement.
* Data Mesh - Data Mesh is for global but topic-related threads that contain posts about "*everything* dealing with *one thing*", or "collective threads".

Specific Series
If possible keep discussions of specific series on topic. Please minimize discussions of plot, content, or characters. Excessive discussion will solicit a warning, deletion, or moved posts depending on what the offense warrants. Do not start threads on specific series, please go to the appropriate board to post.

Raws
Please do not request raws in any topic. Go to the Raw Request board instead. Offending posts will be moved.

Fujoshi Corner

A place for MH's bad girls to hang out. Come here and talk about any Shoujo & Josei related topics.

* General - For general Shoujo&Josei-related discussions.
* Request - Can't load a download? In need of a certain page? Request it here.
* Question - Who's scanlating what and in which chapter happened the kiss again?
* Advice - For recommendations and suggestions, as well as to ask for such.

Please try to use the Recommendation Thread first before you start one. It's not really worth to start a thread for just 2-3 posts, we can always split a interessting discussion into a separate thread.

*Please, no threads discussing specific series. Threads for specific series are in the shojo/josei forum.
*the Fujoshi Cafe is specifically for shojo and josei fans and culture. Discussion of any other demographic will be removed.
