do i should change the title then?
Nah its alright, almost same title but unique
maybe instead of world, person should be more clear I guess
Really nice i was suprised about Marejois and Drum Castle, they are near identical.
LOL ... Count chocula is an amazing find. Nice thread.
Yeah thats pretty nice. But Oda did state where he got the ideas or inspirations for a few of his characters. WB was from an older man who owned a small bar or store where Oda use to hang out at. And Shanks was partly based off of the Movie Young Guns which was a story about Billy the Kid. The Enel and Eminem comparison is the funniest.
some of them are old/noticed before.
But some of them are new, for example, those castles.
Nice job finding them!
I have got some parrales from some characters from op and real world:
He is actually a character that really exists and counts to one of the most known pirates in history
-born to the Real name Edward Teach or Edward Thatch!!
- as he died rumour say his head got cut of and his body dropped into wather where he swam 5 times around the boat until it sunk to the ground!
- his body counted 27(number varies a bit weather u take german or english source ) fatal wounds therefrom 6 were due to bullet impacts and the rest to knives and blades.
- Francis Drake (like x.Drake):
-he was an admiral unde queen elisabeth
- failed in quite big coups
- had a cousin called john Hawkins
thats what i got so far ....
hmm.. first I made this thread I just wanna put similarities of character appearences ..
But then, I think I'll put the Oda's inspirations too..
About Olivier Levasseur and Gold Roger
This is a story about Olivier Levasseur
Olivier Levasseur (Calais, 1688 or 1690 - Réunion, 7 July 1730), was a pirate, nicknamed La Buse or La Bouche (The Buzzard) in his early days, called thus because of the speed and ruthlessness with which he always attacked his enemies.
and this is the similarity (from wikipedia)
"Legend tells that when he stood on the scaffold he had a necklace around his neck, containing a cryptogram of 17 lines, and threw this in the crowd while exclaiming: "Find my treasure, ye who may understand it!" What became of this necklace is unknown to this day. Many treasure hunters have since searched for his fabulous treasure"
a bit similar with Gold Roger when he was executed, right?
and this is the cryptogram
Looks like Poneglyph???
and if someone in this forum find another oda's inspirations, can put it in this thread.. maybe Inspiration about characters names.. like Edward Thatch, like The rookie said... Eustass Kidd for Eustass the monk and willian kidd () etc...
i have one more!
ok this is a bit wiered but i found
Samuel Bellamy , aka "Black Sam" Bellamy,:
-lived :February 23, 1689–April 27, 1717
- was called Prince of pirates
- had longh black hair tied up with a bond
- showed mercy of all he capctured
- his crew called themselves 'robins hood men'
- was very young (28) ,capctured 50 ships a year
-his mother died at his birth
-served as pirate on Mary Anne (or Marianne) with his first mate Edward "Blackbeard" Teach.
thats a lot similarities with op.
In a fun way, I would like to see the collaboration between one piece and pirates of the Caribbean. We might not need to have Luffy in the story. Jonny Depp or Jack Sparrow can resemble Gol D. Roger's character and the story would be the adventure of his.
Oda has confirmed several of his inspirations in previous SBS questions before. Most notably, all the Supernovas (including Zoro, excluding Luffy and Killer) are all named after historical figures, as are many villains.
For your convenience, I'll post the specific questions and answers here, but I will also link to the full SBS for reference. There are probably repeats from what has already been noticed here:
SBS Volume 52:
D: Oda-sensei, this is my first ever question for you. I sometimes read books about pirate history, and are my guesses at the source of the "Supernova" Rookies' names correct?
Eustass "Captain" Kid = 13th century pirate "Eustace the Monk" + 17th century Scottish pirate "William Kidd"
X. Drake = 16th century English adventurer and privateer "Sir Francis Drake"
Basil Hawkins = "John Hawkins", similar to above + 17th century pirate doctor "Basil Ringrose"
Capone "Gang" Bege = "Thomas Cavendish", similar to above
Trafalgar Law = 18th century English pirate "Edward Low"
Jewelry Bonney = 18th century woman pirate "Anne Bonny"
Urouge = 16th century Arab pirates Barbarossa brothers, "Oruc"
Scratchmen Apoo = 19th century Chinese pirate "Chui Apoo"
I'm not sure about Killer, but if any of these are wrong, I'm sorry!! P.N. Chiiyan Miiyan SP
O: Fantastic! That's very helpful of you. It saves me the trouble of explaining. There's only one thing. Capone "Gang" Bege comes from the famous American gangster, Al Capone, and the English privateer, William le Sauvage. Think of "privateers" as pirates like the Seven Armed Seas. Also, Killer is just me being lazy. So, that's right, the rookies' names come from actual pirates. Of course, they ARE just names, after all, but I think it probably got the people who like pirates all in a tizzy.
SBS Volume 4:
R: Doesn't Zoro's name come from the famous pirate, "Francois l'Ollonais"?
O: I took the name from Francois l'Ollonais, said to be the cruelest of all the "Pirates of the Caribbean". That, along with Morgan and Alvida, are names derived from actual pirates.
Hope this was interesting/useful.

Merged two thread with the same topic. If any user sounds like it's on drugs, it's due that. Well, maybe it is on drugs but you shouldn't judge by inconsistency within this thread.
