    Re: Yuki Kaori Manga

I kind of agreed that her series are usually dark, I call them twisted!

My most recent read is her new one called Zero no Soukoushi, a one-shot volume which talks about this guy who is an expert in perfumes and how he solve mysteries using his acute sense of smell.

The other one, I totally love is actually Ludwig Revolution - a series of short fairy tales that we all know like Red Riding Hood and Snow white, in her own weird but kind of make-sense way.

Anyway, her next one on my list will be Angel Santuary.

    Re: Yuki Kaori Manga

I love Yuki Kaori's works. Both the art and the plotlines are gorgeous. Her stories are also quite complex, and I like her exploring the human nature.

I particularly like Angel Sanctuary and Count Cain, have also read Cruel Fairytales, Boys Next Door, Kaine (was my first one, and I fell in love with it), Gravel Kingdom, Neji... well, everything except 0 no Soukoshi and Psycho Knocker.
Oh, and Fairy Cube. Haven't read that yet, except for the first couple of chapters.

Gravel Kingdom is one of her first works, a short-storie. It's an older one from 1993.

The following is taken from my first post here, since I started to modify it as an Yuki Kaori Index

My first Shoujo was Angel Sanctuary which is not that long ago for me (2001/2002). Shoujo was one of the later manga genres I discovered. And till today is Yuki Kaori's name the first that comes to my mind when thinking about deeper girls manga and her whole art is stamped into my brain. I really was addicted with her releases for a long time, particulary Angel Sanctuary and Boy's Next Door. I also loved Neiji and Bloodhound, wished she had these two made a bit longer then one volume.

I've read and own(ed) Angel Sanctuary (incl. the Artbooks and OVA), Bloodhound, Boy's Next Door, Cruel Fairytales, God Child, Gravel Kingdom and Neiji. Haven't start reading Fairy Cube yet, though.

I know most of her works are a bit older now, but still part of my alltime-favorites. The art alone is awesome enough but she also gives you some different thoughts how the world works.
    Scary thoughts sometimes, heh

    Re: Yuki Kaori Manga

What am I doing on this board ? >.>

Anyway, I've read all the works of Kaori Yuki published in France, meaning Angel Sanctuary, Neji, Kain, God Child, and the first volume of Fairy Cube that was released last month. I even own all the Angel Sanctuary and Kain, and the two Angel Sanctuary artbooks. I just love her work, both the art and the stories are great (though a bit difficult for my guy intellect ).

    Re: Yuki Kaori Manga

I recommend you read the one-volume complete series first to get a feel of her work - as some readers find her manga too wordy and complicated.

One-volume - Kaine & Ludwig Revolution, and Cruel Fairytales should be good.

Or you can try reading Angel Sancturay (19 vols -as this is complete in scanlations). Count Cain is good too, but it is still an on-going series.

Let us know what's your opinions once you have tried any.
    Cheers!

    Re: Yuki Kaori Manga

Hm, I started with Angel Sanctuary before I got to the Oneshots. I think the Oneshots are more confusing then the longer series^^"

Yuki Kaori is the best example on how hard to read a manga can be. Honestly, I was told by a friend that I have to read her manga carefully and laughed about the warning - then got lost and had to re-read several pages to understand what she wanted to tell me >.>
Her plot-building is here and there very confusing - but it all makes sense later. Don't give up xD

    Re: Yuki Kaori Manga

I am now reading Angel Sanctuary!! It is pure love

Like what Eni said, her longer series are indeed much much better!
And for Angel Sanctuary, it really has a lot of words, much more than any other series i had read but I think it is all the narration that gives the story a more enriching feel to it. And the artwork is just so beautiful, if you are into the 'fallen rock star' look.

The story of Angel Sanctuary is kind of like a trip in wonderland - through earth, hell and heavens. Hmm..a Must Read!!

So does anyone here read any of her series too?
