    Re: Bakuman on TV (Real Shueisha Tour + Real Faces of Editors!)

    Is it truth that Reborn! and Bakuman have the same editor?

    No idea about that If editors change fairly often (OP has had 7 editors over the course of 13 years, so say once every two years or less?), any info you found on that might also be outdated by now

    Link please. Do they also have what those editors worked on, and which arcs they edited?

    Re: Bakuman General Hang Out Thread

    Well,Hoshino-sensei(D.Gray-man) had two different editors in JUMP.The first one was Yoshida, which i think was the inspiration for Yoshida-shi in Bakuman.Hoshino always suffered under him nearly the same way Hiramaru is suffering(thinking about it now, this makes me love Hiramaru even more).Somewhere around volume 13 her new editor became Nakaji(i think that was his name). In 2009 she moved to Square and got a new editor(can't think of his name now),so during those 5 years in JUMP she had two editors, which means that 2 years seems like the average time for an editor.
    I wonder how many editors Kochikame had.

    Quarro, sorry I forgot to reply (when I saw your post I was on my phone and thought I'd reply later but I forgot )... Anyway, here's where we get information about OP having had 7 editors over its 13 years Sorry they don't have info on which arcs were edited by whom.

    Thanks for the info, Googz! That was interesting - I didn't know D.G-M also underwent such frequent (?) editor changes. I also wonder how many Kochikame has had, or other of Jump's longer series like Naruto and Bleach, and if such frequent editor changes are evident in Jump/Shueisha only.

    @Googlez_kun

    When Hoshino went to Jump Square, Yoshida became her editor again.
    I think she said that at the freetalk of some of the volume of the manga. It was on volume 19 or 20, I don't remember exacly.

    Re: Bakuman General Hang Out Thread

    Get ready for some... BakuHAM. No, I'm serious. This totally cracked me up when I realized it said "Bakuham." and not "Bakuman."

    Spoiler: BakuHAM show

    This is the key promo design for an event at Denny's, a family restaurant in Japan. It says "Bakuham. Everyone's Hamburger". You will get one of 4 clearfiles you can get when you order a particular item at Denny's during the fair and each clearfile looks similar to a Bakuman tank.

    (original jp source)

    I still can't get over BakuHAM...

    Next week is Golden Week, meaning that there won't be Jump. In lieu of reading manga, why not participate in MangaHelpers' very own Scavenger Hunt!? This hunt will challenge your knowledge about manga, anime and MangaHelpers and will be a fun and refreshing way to spend an otherwise mundane week without manga. Hope to see you there!

    HAHAHAHAHA, 'BakuHAM'
    What's next? BakuDork? BakuFans? BakuGirl? Aw, the potential for lame puns is limitless. xD

    I love how they change the pens into fork and knife. What a nice touch.

    Re: Bakuman General Hang Out Thread

    Does anyone think Ohba and Obata still have an editor? Both of them have a lot of experience and I mean, they are writing a manga about manga(-ka) and Ohba seems to know more than enough about JUMP and how it works.
    It sometimes seems as if they could be editors themselves.
    Well, maybe they need someone who keeps them in check,so that they don't bash JUMP too much

    Btw. Sasaki tweeted this about Kochikame:
    Quote Quote:
    @SASAKI_Hisashi SHONENJUMP SASAKI
    I used to be the editor in charge of #Kochikame. I was the 4th editor. The current editor is 10th.
    Kochikame is running for more than 35 years now.

    Re: Bakuman General Hang Out Thread

    I'm sure they do. I don't think there is ANY series out there without an editor, no matter how experienced the mangaka may be. Even Kochi Kame has an editor and Akimoto has been at it for more than 35 years (more than enough time to gain lots and lots of experience!), even the best-selling One Piece has an editor. Maybe the editor just has less work to do because of the experience they have, but each series should definitely still have an editor.

    And like you said, they'd definitely need an editor to tell them if and when they step over any lines in criticizing Shueisha/revealing too much etc

    Seeing how they give an inexperienced, new editor for Oda-sensei... i think it is farfetched to think Bakuman doesn't have an editor

    Does Kubo have an editor? If he does, he needs a better one or his series will never get better.

    Yes, Kubo has an editor. Previously he was shown to be Hattori Yuujirou, but we don't know if his editor has changed since then.

    Re: Bakuman General Hang Out Thread

    @alphabeta - Having an editor is the best thing a person could possible have, they are basically your sponsor and communicator to the publishing company. The best thing is probably that they pick up the manuscripts so you don't have to go turn them in every week. I don't know if some doesn't have one though, most likely everyone at shueisha does.

    While browsing vol. 12 I noticed Takagi was reading the 1st Death Note chapter in WSJ issue from 2004, #01.
