hmmm i was sitting here thinking bored out of my mind trying to spark up a new convo and i decided what are some good dubed animes? >.> and please also list animes u thought were very poorly done and where they could use some fixing or who could fit the character better
my list of good dubs are
Fruits basket, naruto (at first i thought it was really bad but then it kinda grew on me + the voice acting has been getting slowly better over time), Scryed, inuyasha, ghost in the shell: s.a.c. those are the few that i can really think of right now at 3:46 in the morning lol
btw this isnt a bash thread so dont bash on them only point out the places that could use improvment lets say "constructive critisim" lol
and for all u doubting me out there im a sub fan i rarely watch dubed anime
This is a thread to talk about good dubbed anime songs as well ~ destiny4everlove

FLCL is one of the best dubs I've seen. All the Miazaki films like Spirited Away are done really well. FMA isn't so bad. Cowboy Bebop was okay. Cromartie High Scool was a good dub too. Animatrix was pretty much top notch. The redub of Akira was done really well, but i am still partial to the terrible first dubbing just because it was so horrible lol (they changed Ryu to ROY! WTF!)Originally Posted by _ATMA
I usually just stick to the subs though.
I agree that Fruits Basket was a great dub, but I also thought that Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (the one with Duo, Heero, Relena etc) was pretty good. Cowboy Bebop was also decent.
The worst I have ever seen dubbed was Full Metal Alchemist *cringes* when I heard Ninas voice I almost cried. Imagine a older women trying to sound like a little girl and ended up with a really high squeaky voice. ;_;
lol well i never heard nina's voice in that. i have only seen like two eps dubbed...lolOriginally Posted by Tamerlane
I have to say a good dubbed series is Hellsing...mainly because most of the cast of characters are British (with some exceptions) and it flows a bit better in English than Japanese.
Another good one: Ghost in the Shell S.A.C.
The Digimon dubs were quite good, actually. The only complaint I have would be Kari's voice in 02. Frikkin whiny. Other than that, it's been my favourite show to watch in english.
The Naruto dub grew on me too. XD At first Naruto's voice was...too weird, then it's jsut alright. They're getting better every episode. XD
Inuyasha was nice too. XD
And what Kusacha said. The Miyazaki fils were well done. Is Princess Mononoke one? If not, if was good as well. I think the reason why I wanted to watch the english version first was because 'Scully' from X Files voiced the mother wolf. XD
And..it may be possible that Bleach can get into my list. XD I'll just have to wit for a few more episodes. But if they seriously destroy the 11th Division, I'll cry.
But yeah. I have faith and hope in them. XD
Too bad YT is fucking blocked now. ;____;
Agreed. Most likely someone who has experience playing bad-asses--such as Crispin Freeman (Alucard from Hellsing)*, Scott McNeil (Koga from Inuyasha), Steve Blum (Zabuza and Orochimaru from Naruto)--will play Zaraki....Yachiru is harder, obiviously....so I can't name anyone at the moment......Ikkaku most likely will be played by someone like Richard Cox--as screaming your head off is a requirement for playing Ikkaku as well as Zaraki--Yumichika is another hard one, my gut says that Kirby Morrow (Miroku from Inuyasha) will get that part....Aramaki, not sure.....as for Ichinose, can't say as his character is not fully developed enough for me to make a judgment call....Quote:
*=this is who I want to play Zaraki; Freeman did well as Alucard and could handle a similar nutjob like Zaraki very well, IMO
personally i think that the characters should speak the language where theyre from. if the setting is in japan, speak japanese. if its in russia, speak russian and so on.
the problem though is that japanese voice actors are way ahead in acting like that than everywhere else in the world. mainly because they really act. a lot of voice actors in other countries dont take so seriously. they mainly just talk, no real acting going on. while the japanese really go for it, and another advantage the japanese have is how they record their actors.
in almost all countries they bring in each actor one by one and put them in a booth with the script and a tv with the animation so they can just match the images and the words in front of them. the japanese do it differently though. all the actors are in the same room with a big tv and everyone gets a script. whats the advantage with that, you may wonder. well they not only get the timing right but they can play off each other. if the person that said a line before you uses a certain tone in the voice or something like that you can match it. ie giving a real performance not just saying the words.
the best dubbed animes ive ever seen are Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and Hellsing.
Hellsing could have been better though but it was totally acceptable. (and as stated earlier, they are in england so speak english!)
in my opinon i say that saiyuu tend to put more heart into the voice acting american voice acters just dont put in enough emphasis into partsOriginally Posted by BoffenJL
hmm... i havnt really watched much dubbed anime
hellsing, rurouni kenshin (wasnt that bad), .hack//sign, noir, dragonball z
the samurai x ova: god its horrible... i hate it, and what i have seen of the naruto dubs (it annoys me how they still use "jutsu" and say it like "jyuuuuuuuuutsu"... why couldnt they just say "technique"???, yu-gi-oh (everything sounds extremely exxagerated)
I have only one bet on superb english dub in anime: It is in the anime movie: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust ^^ I think that this dub is equall with japanese voices
btw. I also like polish dub in Pokemon :x (but it was when it was aired first time in tv some 8 years ago probably).
Hellsing is one of the very best in the horror genre, and another absolute gem from Gonzo. One of the reasons for the zeal of the fanbase is that the violence is absolutely off the chart, characters are sliced and diced throughout, and the screen runs red with blood. The English dubbing, featuring British-accented voice actors is far superior to the average anime dub (as this is supposed to take place in U.K)
Loaded with exotic weapons, gorgeous gothic backdrops, heaps of attitude, slick soundtrack, and featuring the ultimate "cool" lead character, Hellsing is stylish, violent, and always a turn-on, one any vampire or goth fan could enjoy. You'll literally be giggling with excitement and cheering over the death and destruction.
The hellsing tv series is actually very light on the gore in comparison to those two hellsing OVA's. Those OVA's were the most gory things ive ever seen in animation.
Do you know when will the 3rd OVA will come out???
No idea. *goes to google* please let it be soon, the other two were undescribably awesome
EDIT: according to http://mysite.verizon.net/respsqwo/c...va_3_info.html it was released on the 9th of feb in japan
