Re: Your favorite seinen (and why)

    My favourite Seinen manga
    1. Master Keaton. Imagine McGyver with special military force training and no bad hair.
    2. Vagabond. Adapted from Musashi Miyamoto's life. Plus, my friend is doing the translation for the publication here.
    3. 20th Century Boy. When childhood dreams taken too far, 20th Century Boys happens.
    4. AKIRA. That Kaneda guy always escapes falling debris... and his bike rocks!
    5. Monster. Odd jobs for a doctor. Besides, that friend of mine also does the translation for this one.
    6. Say Hello to Black Jack. Yes, my friend did this one too. But i love doctor stories and the internal turmoil stuff is just great.
And the list goes on forever....

Re: Your favorite seinen (and why)

I finally read Monster and 20th Century Boys and have to say, I would earnestly recommend both to anybody any time of the year.

Although I fail to understand why they would be considered "seinen" though. There wasn't much gore or sex in them at all. Sure, they're sophisicated stories but that's about it.

I've also finally gotten into Gantz. LoL @ Luckas for thinking it was shounen It definitely isn't. But anyway, a lot of nudity and gore, that's for sure.

Seinen isn't necessarily about gore and sex tsk, tsk.

Anyhow, some of my favorites in no particular order:
    - Vagabond - Need I say why? Astonishing artwork and good story.
    - Shin Angyo Onshi - I read a review once that compared this one to Berserk and SAO came on top. Because while it's quite gory, it isn't pointlessly gory. It has only two rapes so far, but they are both heart-wrenching and meaningful. Has a main male character that could easily kick Gutts' ass if only for the simple fact that he doesn't pity himself.
    - Chunchu - I'm utterly obsessed with this one at the moment. Another of the tortured hero category. Again, good plot and kickass art. These Koreans know how to draw.

Will add more when I have time.

Yeah... people that think seinen is about gore and sex are gravely mistaken.
Most of my favorite seinen doesnt have either of those.

Vagabond <=== great... err... can't even described...

Battle Royale <=== this manga will make your head spinning... how can be people so stupid. but think again, the story can happen in reality. im sure of that, this manga isn't only about the author's imagination, it's came with human psichology.

Monster <=== i can feel the thrill. it's scary.

I'm a sucker for period sagas with tons of action. That includes BotI, Vagabond and Shin Angyo Onshi.

Battle Royale was also quite entertaining.

Re: Your favorite seinen (and why)

THe only two manga that I know are seinen and I have read are Until death do us part, and Gunslinger girl. Both of which have blown me away.
GSG was my "first love" but It was the anime i really go into and I still think the manga does not entirely measure up to it, which is rare. Until death do us part is another awesome series that I am plugging for in my sig. I would recomend it to anyone, although it gets a little slow sometimes and you are not garantied a new chapter each week.
Blind dude rocks! click the link to find out why, I dare you
Spoiler: awesome slashdot(and other) quote(s) show
