    Re: ES21 Anime VS Manga

Boy, I didn't realize the anime had such a bad rep. Ah, well, it seems to help the manga keep going, which is good.

Stuff I actually liked better in the anime (please don't kill me if you disagree!):
    • Deimon Field Day. I liked that we DON'T see Hiruma conspiring with Yukimitsu and Mamori. Nor do I mind the White Team getting way WAY ahead. I thought that was funny. I also liked that Hiruma actually got to USE the tank.
    • Death March: I actually liked that Togano and Kuroki tried to leave. It seems more in character for them not to immediately see the parallels between them and Hiruma/Kurita/Musashi. I also kinda liked the incident with the truck in the mud near the end. A little cheesy, but still. Not sure if any of this made up for the lack of gambling (it may be more realistic, since the idea of 16 year olds being allowed to gamble in a major Vegas casino is laughable, but isn't that what Hiruma is for?) (And speaking of the truck incident, I wonder if they put in that bit with Jumonji helping Sena up as fanservice to those drooling fangirls out there who like the two of them together in a relationship? )
    • I liked that Komisubi and Ootawara actually got to sumo wrestle for a little while. Maybe there's more significance to beating the old guy/Mizumachi stand-in, but I don't think it's enough.
    • "Detective Sena." I know it's filler, but it parodied Case Closed and Kindaichi Case Files, both of which I love, so it gets a full pass on that.

PS: Speaking of the anime, what's up with Kamabukuro's (the afroed announcer - I forget if I'm getting his name right) daughter occasionally looking like her father? And why do you suppose Cerberus likes cheerleading?

    Re: ES21 Anime VS Manga

XD XD Haha, I havent had anyone to talk about the Es21 anime for a long time (tho, I havent really watched the last eps =_=). oh, & the thing about Riko changing faces.. well, it was said at vol 19 omakes that, like daughter & father, they both make the same faces when taken aback. I guess the anime likes to exaggerat that 8D

It's good that Es21 (or any other manga, for that matter) gets more attention thanks to the anime. But yet.. the manga story is so amazing, but the anime defiles it so with its high percentage of bad quality eps T_T Despite that, like you said, Leaper, the anime DOES have it's good moments. ^___^

Okay, for the Field Day. I really enjoyed that episode, & in my opinion, both the manga & anime were very good. I liked how the anime made white team be ahead too, & that Sena got to run with Suzu instead of Riku. I also laughed when I saw Rui make his appearance with bunny Yoichi XD XD (altho, it doesnt make sense, cuz Rui was no longer Yoi's slave, but I loved it!). However, I do also appreciate watching how Yoichi got Mamo & Yuki to act-up, kekekeke! & at the end, we also saw Yoichi gather blackmail material on Mamo!

Death March. You're right. That filler for the Hah Bros certainly compensated for their deserved attention. I specially really enjoyed watching Yoichi burn the photo negatives at the end of the ep. The Hah bros are fun! =3 As for the gambling, I find it more realistic that we got to see HOW Yoichi won the money over the fact that in the anime, he just mysteriously knows everything <_<

Sumo Match: if one looks at this ep first & then the manga, you can certainly feel the manga cut off too soon. On the other end, it seemed a tad ridiculous to show that much. XD Mixed feelings here. But it's nice to have variations like this, I guess... +D

As for that last filler.... the concept was funny, but it coulda been done better ^^'

& just to add one more to it, what comes to mind at the moment that I enjoyed from the anime is the Zokugaku game (the 1st one). I like how they really made Sena be afraid at first, & that Rui won his 1st matches against him. Overall, they show a lot more Rui in the anime. He's still a pretty popular character despite his lack of appearance in the manga 8D So that's nice. & I felt it was of good quality.. comparing to Es21 first volumes, cetainly! & the Tower of Hell too!

    Re: ES21 Anime VS Manga

I liked the first... "seaoson" of episodes but it kind of went crappy in my opinion around the filler season
and does anyone know why a shitload of the episodes have a plane flying over in the beginning?
is it some subliminal way of saying
    "ride planes"?

    Re: ES21 Anime VS Manga

I have no idea. For the love of me, I don't know why. O_o; I know that several planes have shown up in the manga panels (specially the first volumes), but nothing too much that it would be considered important or even hinting...

After using it as a filler for a couple of times, maybe the anime just made it a habit?? XD

    Re: ES21 Anime VS Manga

I hate the anime as well because the editing was so blatant to make it kiddy the manga's humor was quite violent because of Hiruma, the removal of construction helping, smoking, drinking and gambling what's up with that? I disagree on the field day the manga was way funnier because everyone was so stressed and the brainy trio were so hilarious. Another thing if any of you haven't you noticed the matches happened within the same day not different days
