Jack of All Trades, Master of None

Would you like to be a jack of all trades? Someone who know a little about a lot but never a master at one. He might know about the names of all 43 Presidents of America but he cannot bec a US History teacher because he doesn't know exactly what had all these presidents done to the country in the past. Or do you prefer to specialize in one area only? So, if you know all about microbiology, you can be a researcher in university to find cure for AIDS. I find a jack of all trades as someone very interesting. I view him as someone who is very versatile, who can fit in any jobs but he can never move far. As for the person who specializes in one area only, he can moves far if he finds a suitable job but it's not that simple to find a job for him because he only knows this one single thing. Personally, I think that that life is a bit dull. XD If you are given a choice, who will you be? Why? I like to see your take on this topic. Discuss away.

I don't know exactly what's about the topic, but i assume it is about: do you want to be all arounder with no paricular master at one thing, or to be a master in one thing and nothing about others. Hmm if I look how I'm here, i like the idea of mastering one thing (example history of Japan) and know a little about others countrys history. Thats what i am. I dont feel like to know much, if i don;t want to and i don;t like that. But if interest me, why not. So yeah, i'm with that mastering something, if you could tell like that, and than something else. Sorry if i misunderstood a topic ;p

Don't worry, you understood the topic. ~ Ayah

i'd rather be a master of one thing than a jack of all trades. It's not bad, but you won't really be known for being really good at anything since someone's bound to be better than you. I'm kinda like that and i don't really like it. I'd rather be really good at one thing.

Re: Jack of All Trades, Master of None

I guess at the moment I'm a Jack of all Trades... but by continuing my studies I hope to become a specialist at a more specific thing.

But I guess it's only natural that everyone wants to be (really) good at something specific... It's always nice to be a "specialist" in stead of a average "allrounder". ^^

And so it goes with life too, you begin with learning a bit of everything and eventually you choose a more specific direction in life.

That's what I think about this topic.
